The Powerful Production Tells the Story of Multigenerational Women Striving to Overcome Their Fears and Challenging Stereotypes
Danilo Carrera and Paulina Goto Star in the Drama that Aims to Entertain and Make Social Impact
MIAMI – JULY 15, 2020 – Univision announces the U.S. premiere of “Vencer el Miedo” (Overcome the Fear), a series about four multigenerational women and how they strive to overcome their fears and stereotypes. The new drama aims to entertain the US Hispanic audience as well as help drive social change. “Vencer el Miedo” premieres on Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. CT on Univision.
Starring Danilo Carrera and Paulina Goto, “Vencer el Miedo” is a co-production between Televisa and Population Media Center (PMC), a non-profit organization that creates entertainment to empower women and girls, improve reproductive health, and protect the environment.
Univision, in collaboration with the non-profits The National Domestic Violence Hotline and National Alliance for Hispanic Health, will integrate a call to action in the central message of each episode as well as through digital and social content aimed to inform and empower U.S. Hispanic families and young adults.
“Vencer el Miedo’s” storylines will put the spotlight on contemporary issues like teen pregnancy, lack of education, broader reproductive healthcare, as well as gender-based violence. Each episode brings impactful and entertaining content for the whole family to watch together, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“Vencer el Miedo” follows the story of the Duran family, to everyone’s eyes they project unity, harmony and respect, but the reality is different for the women in the family. Inés Durán (Arcelia Ramírez) lives under the yoke of her husband Vicente. Cristina Durán (Jade Fraser), the eldest of the daughters, was once her father’s great pride through her promising swimming career, until an accident pushed her away from the sport. Marcela Durán (Paulina Goto), the youngest daughter, tired of being watched and scolded, takes refuge in her boyfriend Rommel (Emmanuel Palomares) and his gang.
The cast also includes Danilo Carrera, Gaby Carrillo, Marcelo Córdoba, César Évora, Geraldine Galván, Michelle González, Beatriz Moreno, Emmanuel Palomares, Arcelia Ramírez, Axel Ricco and Nicole Vale.

El nuevo drama se propone entretener a la audiencia hispana en Estados Unidos además de ayudar a producir cambios sociales. “Vencer el Miedo” se estrenará el lunes, 20 de julio a las 7 p.m. Este/ 6 p.m. Centro en Univision.
Con Danilo Carrera y Paulina Goto como protagonistas, “Vencer el Miedo” es una producción conjunta de Televisa y Population Media Center (PMC), entidad sin fines de lucro que crea entretenimiento para empoderar a mujeres y niñas, mejorar la salud reproductiva y proteger el medio ambiente.
Univision, en colaboración con las entidades sin fines de lucro The National Domestic Violence Hotline y la Alianza Nacional para la Salud de los Hispanos, integrará un llamado a la acción en el mensaje principal de cada episodio, además de contenido digital y social, con el propósito de informar y empoderar a las familias y los adultos jóvenes hispanos en Estados Unidos.
Las tramas de “Vencer el Miedo” destacarán asuntos de la vida contemporánea, como el embarazo durante la adolescencia, la falta de educación, la salud reproductiva en general, además de la violencia de género. Cada episodio ofrece contenido entretenido y con impacto para toda la familia.
“Vencer el Miedo” sigue la historia de la familia Durán. Ante los ojos de todos proyectan unidad, armonía y respeto, pero la realidad es otra para las mujeres de la familia. Inés Durán (Arcelia Ramírez) vive bajo el dominio de su esposo, Vicente. Cristina Durán (Jade Fraser), la mayor de las hijas, alguna vez fue el gran orgullo de su padre gracias a su prometedora carrera como nadadora, hasta que un accidente hizo que dejara ese deporte. Marcela Durán (Paulina Goto), la hija menor, cansada de ser observada y regañada, se refugia en su novio, Rommel (Emmanuel Palomares), y su pandilla.
