Soccer Fans Come Together at Univision Deportes Fiestón Liga MX

Feb 11, 2013

With a name like Fiestón (huge party), you know something good is brewing. In early January – and for the first time ever – Univision Deportes and Coors Light partnered to kick off the Clausura season of the most popular soccer league in the United States – the Liga MX, Mexico’s premier soccer league. Why? Because passion for Liga MX soccer runs deep with our viewers. In fact, just in the last quarter of 2012, across all of our networks, the number of Liga MX viewers totaled 13 million Total Viewers 2+ and 6.9 million Adults 18-49.

The Univision Deportes Fiestón took place at Plaza Mexico in Los Angeles where close to 3,000 consumers came together to enjoy what Hispanics love most: music, food, good weather and, of course, their favorite sport – soccer. We also had giveaways, autograph signings with former Liga MX players like Martín, el Pulpo, Zúñiga and even a soccer mini-tournament.

Our flagship pre-game show “Fútbol Central” hosted by Alejandro Berry and Jorge Calvo aired live on Univision Deportes Network leading into the broadcast of the first three games of the season, which were featured on a giant LED display in the middle of the Plaza.

An attendee turnout that surpassed our expectations by more than 40 percent left us planning upcoming kick off events and confirming one thing – “This was indeed a Fiestón.”
