Univision News’ Noticiero Univision Edición Digital, the first-ever network newscast created and produced for live simulcast on linear and digital/social platforms, has named Borja Voces its new co-anchor. Voces joins co-anchor Carolina Sarassa at Edición Digital beginning today, where the duo will to continue present the day’s top news stories, while staying engaged with viewers via social media throughout the broadcast.
“I am humbled and ready for this challenge,” Voces told TVNewser. “Joining my co-anchor Carolina Sarassa and the Edición Digital team is an honor. As a young immigrant and millennial journalist this is a great opportunity to bring my generation the latest news and information in an innovative format that is both fast paced and reliable on every platform, including TV, mobile and social media.”
Voces comes to Edición Digital from Univision’s newsmagazine Primer Impacto, where he has presented a daily segment titled Secreto a Voces (Open Secret) during the past four years. For the segment, Voces investigated a wide variety of cases sent to him through social media, creating a direct line of communication with the show’s audience and in the process, getting help for people in need throughout the U.S. and Latin America, as well as exposing stories about diverse issues.
Noticiero Univision Edición Digital will also be available on Facebook Watch, joining Jorge Ramos‘s Real America on the platform.
“We are delighted to have Borja on the Noticiero Univision Edición Digital team,” said Univision News president Daniel Coronell. “His appointment as co-host of our most innovative, forward-looking, and fast-growing newscast is the result of the excellence and passion he has brought to every reporting assignment from day one at Univision, and of the special connection he has established with our viewers through his popular segment in Primer Impacto. As a millennial journalist, he fully understands the importance of social media, especially in the coverage of breaking news events where immediacy and accuracy are key. We’re sure that Borja’s presence will only help Edición Digital expand its audience even more.”
Before moving to Miami in 2014 to host the Secreto a Voces block, he reported from Spain on major international news and events. Voces joined Univision in 2011 as an entertainment correspondent in Spain, appearing on the network’s morning show Despierta América and other programs.
