“Despierta America” has its first Emmy award!
The award for ‘Outstanding Morning Show in Spanish’ went to Univision’s morning show for the first time ever. Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Dia” had been sweeping the awards in recent years but not anymore.
This is a big blow for “Un Nuevo Dia” – since they lose in the ratings but always had the ‘award-winning’ title to rely on. However, recent changes in talent and production should start amping the show to compete more and more.
TV pros say that “Despierta America” was guaranteed a win after pulling off a historic week to celebrate their 20 years on the air. They had old hosts, some working for competing Telemundo, join them to celebrate on air.
