Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” Announces New Chart-topping Artists, Music Premieres, and a Never Before Seen Collaboration for 34th Edition
Global Superstar Maluma to be Recognized with the Coveted “Ídolo Global” Award
An Unmissable Opening Act Featuring Ángela Aguilar, Camilo, Christian Nodal, David Bisbal, and Grupo Firme Will Celebrate Vicente Fernandez’ Legacy
MIAMI – FEBRUARY 17, 2022 – Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” announced today more chart-topping artists will join its celebration to deliver memorable performances. The world’s longest-running Latin music awards show will bestow its coveted “Ídolo Global” (Global Idol) award to superstar Maluma. The show’s opening act will honor the legacy of legendary singer Vicente Fernández, the King of Rancheras. In addition, Spanish sensation David Bisbaljoins as show host. Coverage for the first major Latin music award show of 2022 will begin with “Noche de Estrellas,” LIVE from the magenta carpet at the FTX Arena in Miami on February 24 at 7 p.m. / 6 CT.
Global superstar Maluma, one of the most popular singers worldwide, will receive “Premio Lo Nuestro’s” coveted “Ídolo Global” award. The honor is a recognition of his highly successful career with sold-out concerts tours throughout the world, top chart positioning on global radio lists, multiplatinum and diamond records, and more. The singer and composer, currently starring in the movie “Marry Me” along Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, will deliver special performances on stage. Maluma has 8 nominations and carries 5 “Premio Lo Nuestro” Awards.
The new stars joining the 34th edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro” are:
- The show’s opening number will feature a tribute to the late Vicente Fernández by acclaimed artists Ángela Aguilar, Camilo, Christian Nodal, David Bisbal, and Grupo Firme, who will perform iconic songs by the rancheras’legend. The unforgettable musical will be produced by Pepe Aguilar and David Cabrera and will be introduced by this year’s Global Idol Maluma. Camilo and Christian Nodal have 10 nominations each, and Angela Aguilar has 7, and Grupo Firme has 5.
- The King of Bachata Romeo Santos returns for the TV premiere of his hit “Sus Huellas.” Romeo Santos has 3 nominations.
- Pop star Sofía Reyes will take the stage for her first rendition on TV of her new song “Palo Santo.”
Spanish sensation David Bisbal joins Alejandra Espinoza, Gabriel Soto and Yuri to host the three-hour show starting at 8 p.m./ 7 CT on Univision. Backstage host Roberto Hernández will bring fans the latest during the broadcast. Borja Voces, David Zepeda, Francisca and Raúl de Molina will host the one-hour pre-show “Noche de Estrellas” with the special collaboration of Clarissa Molina and Jomari Goyso.
Previously announced performers for “Premio Lo Nuestro” include Anitta, Ángela Aguilar, Chimbala, Christian Nodal, CNCO, Deorro, El Alfa, El Fantasma, Elvis Martínez, Gente de Zona, Gilberto Santa Rosa, IAmChino, Jay Wheeler, Justin Quiles, Laura Pausini, Luis Fonsi, Manuel Turizo, Natti Natasha, Olga Tañón, Ovi, Pepe Aguilar, Pitbull, Prince Royce, Sebastián Yatra, Sting, Wisin y Yandel, and Yuri. “Noche de Estrellas” will feature performances by Emilia, Duki, VF7, Lele Pons, and Ninow y Candy.

El programa de premios a la música latina de más larga trayectoria también otorgará el codiciado premio “Ídolo Global” a la superestrella Maluma. El acto inicial rendirá homenaje al legado del legendario cantante Vicente Fernández, el Rey de las Rancheras. Además, el sensacional cantante español David Bisbal se une como anfitrión del espectáculo. La cobertura del primer gran programa de premios a la música latina del año 2022 empezará con “Noche de Estrellas”, EN VIVO desde la alfombra magenta de FTX Arena en Miami el 24 de febrero a las 7 p.m. / 6 Centro.
La superestrella global Maluma, uno de los cantantes más populares del mundo, recibirá el codiciado galardón “Ídolo Global” de “Premio Lo Nuestro”.
