“Aquí y Ahora” Delivers its Highest-Rated Telecast in the Current 2020/2021 Season on Sunday Night
Univision Delivers Second Consecutive Week of Double-Digit Week-Over-Week Primetime Audience Growth Among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of January 4, 2021 to January 10, 2021
- On Saturday night, Univision finished ahead of ABC and CBS for the entire night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with live coverage of Liga MX. The soccer matchups of Tigres UANL vs. Leon and America vs. Club Atlético San Luis delivered an average audience of 897,000 Total Viewers 2+, 474,000 Adults 18-49 and 196,000 Adults 18-34. It averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+56%), Adults 18-49 (+95%) and Adults 18-34 (+112%) to the network’s 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. time slot from the prior Saturday and made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night, outperforming Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+3% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+36% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+49% adv.).
- For the second consecutive week, Univision delivered double-digit week-over-week primetime audience growth among Total Viewers 2 (+13% to 1.4 million), Adults 18-49 (+16% to 517,000) and Adults 18-34 (+11% to 196,000).
- For the entire week, Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, out-delivering The CW with 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 517,000 Adults 18-49 and 196,000 Adults 18-34.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-49 and on six out of seven nights among Adults 18-34.
- Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime for the sixteenth consecutive week in the current 2020/2021 season with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+48% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+48% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+54% adv.).
- Airing weeknights at 8 p.m., “Vencer el Desamor” delivered 1.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 633,000 Adults 18-49 and 243,000 Adults 18-34 and drove Univision to a second-place finish on broadcast television, out-delivering CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-34. The series also doubled the audience levels of the first hour of Telemundo’s “El Domo Del Dinero” among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- Univision’s “Imperio de Mentiras” delivered 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 475,000 Adults 18-49 and 168,000 Adults 18-34 and made it a top-rated broadcast network in the weeknight 9 p.m. hour, outperforming The CW among these three key demographics.
- Airing weeknights at 10 p.m., “Dulce Ambición” attracted 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 380,000 Adults 18-49 and 136,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision ahead of CBS with Adults 18-34. The series also outperformed Telemundo’s “Falsa Identidad II” with double-digit audience advantages among Total Viewers 2+ (+38% adv.).
- On Wednesday night, Univision’s special news coverage “Noticias Univisión Presenta: Desafio a la Democracia” attracted 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 764,000 Adults 25-54, 696,000 Adults 18-49 and 268,000 Adults 18-34. It outperformed ABC’s news special “Storming Capitol Hill” among Adults 18-34 (+3% adv.) and CBS’ “CBS News: Assault on Capitol Hill” among Adults 18-49 (+62% adv.), Adults 18-34 (+153% adv.) and Adults 25-54 (+37% adv.). Univision’s news special also outperformed Telemundo’s news special, “Noticias Telemundo Edición Especial: Asalto a la Democracia” by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+40% adv.), Adults 25-54 (+37% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+44% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+49% adv.). Univision’s “Noticias Univisión Presenta: Desafio a la Democracia” topped all English-language broadcast and cable network coverage on the attack of Capitol Hill on Wednesday night among Hispanic Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Adults 25-54.
- On Sunday night, Univision’s primetime news magazine, “Aquí y Ahora” delivered week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+93% to 1.8 million), Adults 18-49 (+154% to 685,000) and 18-34 (+159% to 302,000), marking its highest-rated telecast in the current 2020/2021 season. Univision’s movie presentation of “Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation” averaged 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 463,000 Adults 18-49 and 165,000 Adults 18-34. The film propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with audience advantages over Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+ (+313% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+246% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+374% adv.). This is the sixteenth consecutive week in the current 2020/2021 season that Univision out-delivers Telemundo on Sunday night among Total Viewers 2+.
