Univision Scores Victory Over CBS and FOX on Saturday Night Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 With Live Liga MX Soccer Coverage
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of September 14, 2020 to September 20, 2020
- With live coverage of Liga MX, Univision captured the No. 3 broadcast network ranking on Saturday night, outperforming CBS and FOX with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Preceded by the matchup between Tigres UANL and Queretaro, which drew in 820,000 Total Viewers 2+, 357,000 Adults 18-49 and 154,000 Adults 18-34, America vs. Guadalajara (Chivas) retained and increased its overall lead-in audience by +93% with 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the second and third most-watched program on broadcast television among Adults 18-49 (798,000) and Adults 18-34 (328,000), respectively. The sports event also delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+51%), Adults 18-49 (+49%) and Adults 18-34 (+45%) to the network’s 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday last year while also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+34% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+77% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+94% adv.).
- Sunday night’s finale of “¿Quién Es la Máscara?” attracted 2.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 707,000 Adults 18-49 and 327,000 Adults 18-34, marking its highest-rated telecast during its full-run. The reality competition series increased its audience in the last half-hour compared to the first half-hour by double-digits among Total Viewers 2+ (+62%), Adults 18-49 (+92%) and Adults 18-34 (+80%) and positioned Univision ahead of FOX and The CW during the 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. time slot and for the entire night across all three key demos. “¿Quién Es la Máscara?” also delivered double-digit week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+22%), Adults 18-49 (+14%) and Adults 18-34 (+29%) and propelled Univision to the No. 1 network ranking on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-to-triple digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+86% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+76% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+132% adv.).
- On the final week of the 2019/2020 season, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, outperforming FOX and The CW with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 522,000 Adults 18-49 and 236,000 Adults 18-34.
- Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on every night for the seventh consecutive week among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime for the forty-third consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+26% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+35% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+57% adv).
- Univision’s “Médicos, Línea de Vida” averaged 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 555,000 Adults 18-49 and 268,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned it as the No. 2 broadcast network during the Monday through Friday 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot, outperforming ABC, NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-34. The medical drama also out-delivered Telemundo’s “Todo Por Mi Hija” with double-digit audience advantages among Adults 18-49 (+25% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+62% adv.).
- Univision outperformed ABC and NBC during the weeknight 10 p.m. hour among Adults 18-34 with “Dulce Ambicion.” The series delivered 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 448,000 Adults 18-49 and 178,000 Adults 18-34 and averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+32% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+23% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+20% adv.) than Telemundo’s “Enemigo Intimo II.”
- Univision finished the 2019/2020 season as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+39% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+32% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+33% adv.). This marked the 28th consecutive season that Univision surpassed Telemundo with Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+.
