Univision Delivers Double-Digit Year-Over-Year Primetime Audience Growth for Second Straight Week Across All Key Demos
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of July 13, 2020 to July 19, 2020
- For the eighth consecutive week, Univision finished as the No. 1 network during primetime, outperforming ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The CW and all cable networks with 229,000 Adults 18-34, marking its longest weekly winning streak thus far.
- Univision ranked as the third most-watched network in primetime for the entire week, out-delivering CBS, FOX, The CW and all cable networks with 535,000 Adults 18-49 as well as the fourth largest broadcast network for the fifth consecutive week, ahead of FOX and The CW with 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+.
- Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on every single night for the third consecutive week among Adults 18-49 and for the ninth consecutive week among Adults 18-34.
- Univision delivered double-digit year-over-year primetime audience growth for the second consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+23% to 1.4 million), Adults 18-49 (+14% to 535,000) and Adults 18-34 (+10% to 229,000).
- Univision increased its primetime audience (+14%) from the comparable week in 2019 while ABC (-31%), CBS (-30%), NBC (-25%), FOX (-34%), The CW (-19%) and Telemundo (-47%) all reported audience declines with the key Adult 18-49 demographic.
- Univision captured the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking in primetime for the thirty-fourth consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+65% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+80% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+79% adv).
- On Tuesday night, the season two finale of “Amor Eterno” attracted 2.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 847,000 Adults 18-49 and 344,000 Adults 18-34, making Univision the No. 1 broadcast network in the 9 p.m. hour and for the entire night, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The Turkish novela increased its audience week-over-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+9%), Adults 18-49 (+8%) and Adults 18-34 (+15%) and ranked among the top 2 most-watched programs on broadcast television, in first-place with Adults 18-34 and in second-place with Adults 18-49.
- Thursday night’s live coverage of the semi-finals of the “Copa Por México” tournament featuring Guadalajara (Chivas) vs. America drew in 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 717,000 Adults 18-49 and 313,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network for the entire night with Adults 18-34 as well as the No. 2 broadcast network, ahead of CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-49. Guadalajara (Chivas) vs. America delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+18%), Adults 18-49 (+24%) and Adults 18-34 (+22%) to the network’s 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. time slot from the comparable Thursday last year, making it the top-rated program on broadcast television among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+ (+60% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+81% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+85% adv.).
- Airing weeknights at 8 p.m., Univision’s “Te Doy La Vida” averaged its highest-rated weekly performance thus far with 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+ and 731,000 Adults 18-49 as well as second-highest among Adults 18-34 (334,000). The series positioned Univision among the top-rated broadcast networks at No. 1, outperforming ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-34 and No. 2, ahead of ABC, CBS, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-49. “Te Doy La Vida” also attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+64% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+94% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+112% adv.) than Telemundo’s “Cennet.”
- In its premiere week, “Médicos, Línea de Vida” averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 572,000 Adults 18-49 and 250,000 Adults 18-34 and propelled Univision to the first and second-place finish on broadcast television in the weeknight 9 p.m. hour with the respective 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics. “Médicos, Línea de Vida” also out-delivered Telemundo’s “100 Dias Para Enamorarnos” with double-digit audience advantages among Total Viewers 2+ (+89% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+82% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+81% adv.).
- Univision captured the No. 1 broadcast network ranking during the weeknight 10 p.m. hour, ahead of ABC, CBS and FOX for the second consecutive week among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with “Como Tu No Hay 2.” The romantic comedy delivered 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-over-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+5% to 676,000) and Adults 18-34 (+6% to 286,000) while also doubled the audience levels of Telemundo’s “Enemigo Intimo II” across all three demographic groups.
- On Sunday night, the two-hour airing of “Nuestra Belleza Latina: El Reencuentro” averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+59% to 891,000), Adults 18-49 (+14% to 280,000) and Adults 18-34 (+5% to 113,000) to Univision’s 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. time slot from the comparable Sunday last year. It increased its audience in the second hour compared to the first hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+12%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%) and positioned Univision ahead of CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW during the Sunday 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. time slot with Adults 18-34. “Nuestra Belleza Latina: El Reencuentro” also propelled Univision to double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+ (+19% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+21% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+34% adv.).
