Univision Delivers Double-Digit Primetime Audience Growth, Finishes Among Top 5 on Broadcast TV Among Key Demos

Univision’s Weeknight Series “Ringo,” “Amor Eterno” and “Sin Miedo a la Verdad” Average Highest-Rated Weekly Audience Levels Across Key Demos, Network Outperforms CBS, NBC and FOX on Sunday Night With Adult 18-34 Viewers

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of March 16, 2020 to March 20, 2020

  • For the entire week, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network in primetime, out-delivering CBS and The CW with 280,000 Adults 18-34 as well as the fifth largest broadcast network, ahead of The CW with 682,000 Adults 18-49 and 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+.
  • Univision delivered double-digit primetime audience growth from the comparable week in 2019 among Total Viewers 2+ (+42% to 1.7 million), Adults 18-49 (+53% to 682,000) and Adults 18-34 (+65% to 280,000).
  • Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) across every night last week among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime for the seventeenth consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+39% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+27% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+14% adv.).
  • Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+10% to 1.7 million), Adults 18-49 (+16% to 700,000) and Adults 18-34 (+13% to 299,000), positioning it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the seventeenth consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+44% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+34% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+22% adv.).
    • At 8 p.m., “Ringo” averaged its highest-rated weekly performance with week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+13% to 1.9 million), Adults 18-49 (+24% to 777,000) and Adults 18-34 (+20% to 354,000). The series also outperformed the second hour of Telemundo’s “Exatlón Estados Unidos” by +31% among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
    • At 9 p.m., “Amor Eterno” delivered week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.9 million), Adults 18-49 (+12% to 778,000) and Adults 18-34 (+6% to 309,000), marking its highest-rated weekly audience levels in the current second season with Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+. The Turkish novela also made Univision a top-rated broadcast network in the weeknight 9 p.m. hour, outperforming CBS (+16% adv.) and The CW (+281% adv.) among Adults 18-34 as well as averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+80% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+57% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+23% adv.) than Telemundo’s “La Doña II.”
    • At 10 p.m., “Sin Miedo a la Verdad” attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+10% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+10% to 544,000) and Adults 18-34 (+13% to 232,000) in its second week compared to the previous season three premiere week. The series also out-delivered Telemundo’s “Operacion Pacifico” in the 10 p.m. hour by double-digits among Total Viewers 2+ (+27% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+18% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+12% adv.).
  • On Sunday night, Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking for the entire night, out-delivering CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-34 as well as finished in third-place on broadcast television, ahead of NBC, FOX and The CW with Adults 18-49. The strong programming line-up consisting of the special edition of “Aquí y Ahora,” the 2020 season premiere of “Pequeños Gigantes” and the return of “Sal y Pimienta” also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+66% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+49% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+30% adv.).
  • The special edition of “Aquí y Ahora: Faces of Coronavirus: A Discussion with the Experts” averaged its highest-rated telecast in the current 2019/2020 season with 1.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 698,000 Adults 18-49 and 250,000 Adults 18-34. It delivered double-digit week-over-week audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+46%), Adults 18-49 (+55%) and Adults 18-34 (+14%) and positioned Univision ahead of FOX in the Sunday 7 p.m. hour across all three demographic groups.
    • The 2020 season premiere of “Pequeños Gigantes” attracted 2.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 910,000 Adults 18-49 and 352,000 Adults 18-34 and made Univision the No. 2 broadcast network in the Sunday 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. time slot, outperforming CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The reality competition series finished within the top 5 programs on broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original primetime line-ups on NBC (“Little Big Shots,” “The Wall,” “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” and “The Good Girls”), The CW (“Batwoman” abd “Supergirl”) and Telemundo (“Exatlón Estados Unidos” and “La Voz II”) as well as first-run episodes of ABC’s “The Rookie;” CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “NCIS: New Orleans” and FOX’s “The Simpsons,” “Duncanville” and “Bob’s Burgers.” “Pequeños Gigantes” also attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+57%), Adults 18-49 (+60%) and Adults 18-34 (+54%) to the network’s 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. time slot from the comparable Sunday last year and drove Univision to the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking during the premiere with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+80% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+62% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+36% adv.).
    • The return of “Sal y Pimienta” drew in 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 580,000 Adults 18-49 and 229,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision ahead of NBC (+25% adv.) during the Sunday 10:30 p.m. half-hour time slot among Adults 18-34. The entertainment news program delivered year-over-year audience growth to the network’s time period among Total Viewers 2+ (+25%), Adults 18-49 (+14%) and Adults 18-34 (+48%) as well as outperformed Telemundo by +36% among Total Viewers 2+, +17% among Adults 18-49 and +14% among Adults 18-34 in the last primetime half-hour on Sunday night.
