Univision Kicks Off 2020 With Double Digit Week-Over-Week Audience Weeknight Primetime Growth Among A18-49, A18-34

Univision Averages More Adult 18-34 Viewers than FOX in Primetime for Entire Week, Outperforms ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX Each Night for Second Straight Week in Demo

Univision’s “Ringo” Delivers Highest-Rated Weekly Performance Since Premiere Across All Key Demos

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of December 30, 2019 to January 5, 2020

  • Univision kicked off 2020 as the fourth most-watched broadcast network in primetime for the entire week, out-delivering FOX and The CW with 231,000 Adults 18-34 as well as the fifth largest broadcast network, ahead of The CW with 519,000 Adults 18-49 and 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+.
  • Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on every night last week for the second consecutive week among Adults 18-34 as well as on five out of seven nights among Adults 18-49.
  • Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+21% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+16% to 616,000) and Adults 18-34 (+15% to 281,000), positioning it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in weeknight primetime with double-to-triple digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+113% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+93% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+82% adv.).
    • “Ringo” averaged its highest-rated weekly performance with week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+24% to 1.7 million), Adults 18-49 (+20% to 655,000) and Adults 18-34 (+24% to 320,000). The series drew in more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “God Friended Me” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” as well as FOX’s “Almost Family” and “Deputy.” “Ringo” also delivered two times the audience levels of Telemundo’s “Decisiones: Unos Ganan, Otros Pierden” head-to-head in the 8 p.m. hour among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
    • “El Dragón” attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+10% to 1.4 million), Adults 18-49 (+4% to 564,000) and Adults 18-34 (+2% to 248,000) than the previous week and drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television in the weeknight 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot, outperforming Telemundo’s “La Doña Edicion Especial” and “El Señor de los Cielos VII” by double-digits among Total Viewers 2+ (+65% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+42% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+32% adv.).
  • For the sixth consecutive week, Univision finished as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+74% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+59% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+56% adv.).
  • On Tuesday night, Univision’s special broadcast of “Feliz 2020” attracted 2.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 830,000 Adults 18-49 and 371,000 Adults 18-34, marking its highest-rated performance since 2014 among Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49 as well as highest-rated since 2017 among Adults 18-34.
    • Airing from 8:00 p.m. to 1:04 a.m., “Feliz 2020” delivered double-digit audience growth in the final hour compared to the first hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+39%), Adults 18-49 (+52%) and Adults 18-34 (+57%) and positioned Univision ahead of CBS and The CW for the entire night with both the key Adult 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics.
    • “Feliz 2020” also averaged from Total Viewers 2+ (+37%), Adults 18-49 (+41%) and Adults 18-34 (+40%) than the 2018 airing while ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” NBC’s “A Toast to 2019! & New Year’s Eve Special 2020” and “FOX’s “New Year’s Eve with Steve Harvey: Live from Times Square” all reported year-over-year audience declines across these three demographic groups. The special also propelled Univision to the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking with tripled the Adult 18-49 audience levels of Telemundo on Tuesday night.
  • Univision’s Sunday night news programs, “Aquí y Ahora” (386,000) and “Crónicas” (357,000) increased their Adult 18-49 audience levels by +18% and +12%, respectively compared to their previous airings. “Aquí y Ahora” also delivered audience gains among Total Viewers (+21% to 1.1 million) and Adults 18-34 (+93% to 196,000) while “Crónicas” made Univision a top-rated broadcast network in the Sunday 10pm hour, outperforming CBS by +36% with the young Adult 18-34 viewers.
