Univision Premieres of “La Usurpadora” and “Reina de la Canción” Lead Network to Week-Over-Week Primetime Audience Growth Across All Key Demos 

Univision Finishes the 2018/2019 Season as No. 1 Spanish-Language Network in Primetime for 27th Consecutive Time With Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+, and Among Top Five Broadcast Networks with Adults 18-49

 

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of September 16, 2019 to September 22, 2019

  • On the final week of the 2018/2019 season, Univision finished ahead of the CW during primetime for the entire week with week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+7% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+4% to 521,000) and Adults 18-34 (+3% to 212,000), marking the third consecutive week of audience growth with the key Adult 18-49 demographic.
  • Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights for the second consecutive week among Adults 18-34 as well as on five out of seven nights among Adults 18-49.
  • Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+16% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+14% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+12% adv.), marking the third consecutive week with both Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+.
  • Univision finished the 2018/2019 season as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during Monday through Sunday primetime, outperforming Telemundo for the 27th consecutive season with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+ and 528,000 Adults 18-49.
  • From Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+9% to 1.4 million), Adults 18-49 (+6% to 581,000) and Adults 18-34 (+7% to 243,000), positioning it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during weeknight primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+24% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+21% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+25% adv.).
    • At 8 p.m., “La Rosa de Guadalupe” delivered 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 504,000 Adults 18-49 and 236,000 Adults 18-34 and drove Univision to a third-place finish on broadcast television, ahead of CBS, FOX, The CW and Telemundo with the young Adult 18-34 demographic.
    • At 9 p.m., “La Usurpadora” averaged 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 722,000 Adults 18-49 and 289,000 Adults 18-34 during its premiere week. The series attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+18%), Adults 18-49 (+24%) and Adults 18-34 (+16%) to the weeknight 9 p.m. hour from the comparable week in 2018 and out-delivered Telemundo’s “El Final del Paraiso” by +18% among Adults 18-34 and +35% with both Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+.
    • At 10 p.m., “Sin Miedo a la Verda” achieved its highest-rated weekly performance with week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+18% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+24% to 512,000) and Adults 18-34 (+31% to 203,000). It also delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+47% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+36% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+29% adv.) than Telemundo’s “Preso No. 1.”
  • Univision’s weeknight series, “La Rosa de Guadalupe,” “La Usurpadora” and “Sin Miedo a la Verdad” averaged more Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 viewers than The CW’s entire primetime original line-up consisting of “Big Stage,” “Hynoptize Me,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Mysteries Decoded,” “Pandora,” “Peaking 1,” “Peaking 2,” “The Outpost” and “Two Sentence Horror Stories.”
  • With live coverage of the Liga MX matchup between America and Queretaro, Univision captured the No. 3 broadcast network ranking on Saturday night, out-delivering NBC (+49% adv.) and FOX (+34% adv.) among Adults 18-34. America vs. Queretaro drew in more Total Viewers 2+ (+51% to 1.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+80% to 512,000) and Adults 18-34 (+76% to 217,000) to the network’s 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday last year. The soccer match also ranked as the third and fourth most-watched program on broadcast television with the respective Adult 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics as well as propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night, outperforming Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+2% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+20% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+7% adv.).
  • On Sunday night, Univision’s two-hour premiere of “Reina de la Canción” attracted 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 486,000 Adults 18-49 and 182,000 Adults 18-34. The reality music competition series increased its audience by double-digits in the last hour compared to the first hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+26%), Adults 18-49 (+31%) and Adults 18-34 (+12%). “Reina de la Canción” also averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+36%), Adults 18-49 (+31%) and Adults 18-34 (+21%) to the network’s 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot compared to the prior four Sundays.
  • Univision’s Sunday night news programs, “Aquí y Ahora” and “Crónicas” delivered week-over-week audience gains of +7% (335,000) and +3% (441,000), respectively among Adults 18-49. “Crónicas” also averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+45% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+15% adv.) than Telemundo’s “El Secreto de Selena” head-to-head during the Sunday 10 p.m. hour.
