Univision Out-Delivers ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX on Six of Seven Nights for Third Consecutive Week Among Adults 18-34

 

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of August 19, 2019 to August 25, 2019

  • Driven by the “Liga MX” showdown between America and Tigres UANL on Saturday night, Univision finished as the No. 1 broadcast network, ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX among Adults 18-49. The soccer match delivered triple-digit audience growth to the network’s 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. time slot versus the same night in 2018 with Total Viewers 2+ (+126% to 1.1 million), Adults 18-49 (+154% to 609,000) and Adults 18-34 (+164% to 198,000), making it the No. 1 program on all of broadcast television with the respective 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics. The game also positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night, out-performing Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+9% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+22% adv.).
  • For the third consecutive week, Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision finished ahead of The CW during primetime for the 48th consecutive week since the start of the 2018/2019 season with week-over-week audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.0 million).
  • From Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience among Total Viewers 2+ (+6% to 1.1 million).
    • At 8 p.m., “La Reina Soy Yo” delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+8% to 1.3 million) versus the prior week. The series also out-performed the second hour of Telemundo’s “Exatlón” in its premiere week by double-digits among Adults 18-34 (+10% adv.) as well as +3% adv. among Total Viewers 2+, positioning Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the 15th consecutive week in the 8 p.m. hour.
    • At 9 p.m., “Juntos, El Corazón Nunca Se Equivoca” grew its audience by double-digit margins over its premiere week among Total Viewers 2+ (+15% to 979,000), Adults 18-49 (+18% to 416,000) and Adults 18-34 (+14% to 171,000).
    • At 10 p.m, “Sin Miedo a la Verdad” delivered its highest-rated weekly performance among Adults 18-49 (413,000). Week-to-week, the series attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+9% to 976,000) and Adult 18-49 (+5% to 413,000) viewers than the prior week, positioning Univision among the top-rated broadcast networks in the weeknight 10 p.m. hour and out-delivering ABC among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision’s entire weeknight lineup; “La Reina Soy Yo”, “Juntos, El Corazón Nunca Se Equivoca” and “Sin Miedo a la Verdad” drew in more Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s (“Reef Break”), CW’s (“Pandora,” “Bulletproof,” “The Outpost,” “Two Sentence Horror Stories”) from Monday to Friday primetime.
  • On Sunday night, Univision ranked as the No. 4 Broadcast network for the entire night, out-delivering FOX, The CW and Telemundo among Adults 18-34. Univision also averaged more Total Viewers 2+ than FOX and The CW on Sunday night. The network also grew its audience by double-digit margins versus the previous Sunday among Total Viewers 2+ (+28%), Adults 18-49 (+50%) and Adults 18-34 (+64%).
    • Versus the prior Sunday, the 7 p.m. airing of “Aqui y Ahora” grew its audience among Adults 18-49 (+1% to 302,000) and Adults 18-34 (+9% to 137,000). Compared to the four prior Sundays average, the newsmagazine delivered +18% more Adult 18-34 viewers.
    • Airing from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the special movie presentation of “Cine Especial: No Se Aceptan Devoluciones,” starring Eugenio Derbez, delivered double-digit audience growth to the network’s 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. time period compared to the previous four Sundays average among Total Viewers 2+ (+46% to 1.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+47% to 479,000) and Adults 18-34 (+86% to 222,000). The broadcast also delivered more Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 than FOX and The CW. The movie also made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the time slot, outperforming Telemundo by double-digits among Adults 18-34 (+13% adv.) and by +4% among Adults 18-49.
    • At 10:30 p.m., the half-hour airing of “Cronicas” drew more Adults 18-49 (+25% to 375,000) and Adults 18-34 (+27% to 156,000) to the time period week-to-week.
