Univision Outperforms CBS and FOX During Primetime for the Entire Week Among Adults 18-34, Delivers Third Straight Week of Year-Over-Year Primetime Audience Growth Across Key Demos

Saturday Night Fútbol Doubleheader Drives Univision to Victory Over ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX with Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

 

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of July 15, 2019 to July 21, 2019

  • On Saturday night, Univision captured the No. 1 broadcast network ranking for the entire night, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with its live coverage of “Sábado Futbolero.” The back-to-back soccer matches – America vs. Monterrey and Necaxa vs. Cruz Azul – delivered an average audience of 816,000 Total Viewers 2+, 400,000 Adults 18-49 and 157,000 Adults 18-34, doubling the network’s audience levels during the 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday in 2018. Both games were among the top-rated programs on broadcast television on Saturday night among Adults 18-34 with America vs. Monterrey coming in at No. 2 (164,000) and Necaxa vs. Cruz Azul finishing at No. 5 (149,000). The sports event also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+31% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+37% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+21% adv.).
  • For the entire week, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network in primetime, ahead of CBS, FOX and The CW among Adults 18-34. Last week also marked the 43rd consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season that Univision has surpassed the CW during primetime with 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 468,000 Adults 18-49 and 208,000 Adults 18-34.
  • Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
  • For the third consecutive week, Univision increased its primetime audience year-over-year among Adults 18-49 (+2% to 468,000) and Adults 18-34 (+8% to 208,000).
  • Univision was the only major broadcast network to deliver audience growth (+2%) during primetime from the comparable week in 2018 as ABC (-12%), CBS (-25%), NBC (-24%), FOX (-48%), The CW (-17%) and Telemundo (-10%) all reported audience declines with the key Adult 18-49 demographic.
  • Airing weeknights at 8 p.m., “La Reina Soy Yo” averaged 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 453,000 Adults 18-49 and 206,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo’s “Un Poquito Tuyo” among Total Viewers 2+ (+30% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+30% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+38% adv.). The series also drew in more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Card Sharks,” “Family Food Fight,” “Holey Moley,” “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” “Match Game” and “Reef Break;” CBS’ “Blood & Treasure,” “Elementary,” “Instinct,” “Million Dollar Mile,” “The Code” and “The Good Fight;” NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night” and “The InBetween;” FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and “What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage;” as well as The CW’s “Big Stage,” “Burden of Proof,” “iZombie,” “Jane The Virgin,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Pandora,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Hundred,” “The Outpost” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”
  • On Thursday night, Univision finished as the No. 1 broadcast network for the entire night, outperforming ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The CW and Telemundo among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The three-hour live broadcast of the 16th annual “Premios Juventud” attracted 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 923,000 Adults 18-49 and 457,000 Adults 18-34, making it the top-rated program on all of broadcast television with more 18 to 34 viewers than the entire original line-ups on ABC (“Holey Moley,” “Family Food Fight” and “Reef Break”), CBS (“Love Island,” “Big Brother” and “Elementary), FOX (“MasterChef” and “Spin the Wheel”) and The CW (“iZombie” and “The Outpost”) as well as the first-run episode of NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night.” Univision was also the top-rated Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+37% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+42% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+73% adv.).
