Primetime News Magazine, “Aquí y Ahora” Delivers Double-Digit Week-Over-Week Audience Growth Across All Key Demos
- On Saturday night, Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking, out-delivering ABC, CBS and FOX for the entire night among both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with live coverage of “Sábado Futbolero.” Preceded by America vs. Santos Laguna, which drew in 886,000 Total Viewers 2+, 450,000 Adults 18-49 and 165,000 Adults 18-34, Guadalajara (Chivas) vs. Leon retained and increased this overall lead-in audience by +28% with 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the second and third most-watched program on broadcast television in the respective Adult 18-34 (193,000) and Adult 18-49 (512,000) demographics. The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+26% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+36% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+26% adv.).
- For the entire week, Univision finished ahead of The CW during primetime for the 31st consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 487,000 Adults 18-49 and 177,000 Adults 18-34.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on four out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
- Univision’s weeknight series, “Jesus” (183,000), “Rosa De Guadalupe” (186,000) and “Por Amar Sin Ley” (170,000) averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Whiskey Cavalier;” CBS’ “Ransom” and “The Red Line;” NBC’s “Abbys,” “A.P. Bio” and “The Enemy Within;” FOX’s “Proven Innocent” as well as The CW’s “Arrow,” “Charmed,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Dynasty,” “In The Dark,” “Jane The Virgin,” “Riverdale,” “Roswell New Mexico,” “Supergirl” and “Supernatural.”
- With week-to-week audience gains among Adults 18-49, Univision’s “Jesus” (+2% to 511,000) and “Por Amar Sin Ley” (+8% to 482,000) out-delivered first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as CBS’ “Ransom;” FOX’s “Proven Innocent” and The CW’s “Arrow,” “Charmed,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Dynasty,” “In The Dark,” “Jane The Virgin,” “Riverdale,” “Roswell New Mexico,” “Supergirl” and “Supernatural.”
- Sunday night’s two-hour broadcast of “Pequeños Gigantes” attracted 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 513,000 Adults 18-49 and 193,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo during the 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot (+13% adv.) as well as for the entire night (+14% adv.) with the key Adult 18-49 demographic. The kids talent competition series also delivered more Adult 18-34 and Adult 18-49 viewers than The CW’s entire original primetime programming lineup ( “Supergirl” and “Charmed”) for the second consecutive Sunday.
- Univision’s Sunday night news programs, “Aquí y Ahora” (381,000) and “Crónicas” (455,000) increased their Adult 18-49 audience levels by +24% and +2%, respectively compared to their previous airing. “Aquí y Ahora” also delivered double-digit week-over-week audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+14% to 1.0 million) and Adults 18-34 (+14% to 144,000) while “Crónicas” propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television in the Sunday 10 p.m. hour, outperforming Telemundo by double-digits with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+ (+92% adv.), 455,000 Adults 18-49 (+39% adv.) and 141,000 Adults 18-34 (+27% adv.).
