Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of February 11, 2019 to February 17, 2019
- On Saturday night, Univision finished ahead of CBS, NBC and FOX for the entire night among Adults 18-34 with its live coverage of “Sábado Futbolero.” Preceded by Tigres UANL vs. Necaxa which drew in 782,000 Total Viewers 2+, 404,000 Adults 18-49 and 156,000 Adults 18-34, Guadalajara (Chivas) vs. Atlas retained and increased this overall lead-in audience by +39% with 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+ and averaged more Adults 18-49 (+11% to 557,000) and Adults 18-34 (+11% to 218,000) to the network’s 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday last year. Guadalajara (Chivas) vs. Atlas also ranked among the top-rated programs on broadcast television, in first-place among Adults 18-34 and in third-place among Adults 18-49. The sports event also made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the 2nd consecutive Saturday night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+17% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+13% adv.).
- For the 7th consecutive week, Univision ranked as the No. 5 broadcast network, ahead of The CW during primetime with 577,000 Adults 18-49 and 225,000 Adults 18-34 as well as for the 2nd consecutive week with 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+. This also marked the 21st consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season that Univision has out-delivered The CW in primetime.
- Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
- Univision finished as the No. 1 Spanish-language in primetime for the 16th consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+24% adv.) and for the 7th consecutive week with both Adults 18-49 (+16% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+5% adv.).
- Airing weeknights at 8 p.m., “Jesus” delivered week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.6 million), Adults 18-49 (+4% to 579,000) and Adults 18-34 (+6% to 237,000). The epic series also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television, outperforming Telemundo by +28% among Total Viewers 2+, +12% among Adults 18-49 and +5% among Adults 18-34.
- Averaging more than 600,000 Adult 18-49 viewers, Univision’s “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” (658,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (642,000) edged out Telemundo’s “Betty En NY” (+15% adv.) and “El Baron” (+60% adv.) by double-digit margins to position it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the respective weeknight 9pm and 10m hours. “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” and “Amar A Muerte” also out-delivered original airings of such English-language dramas as CBS’ “Madam Secretary” and “Ransom;” FOX’s “The Gifted” and CW’s “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Roswell New Mexico” and “Supergirl” in the key Adult 18 to 49 demographic.
- Univision’s weeknight primetime series, “Jesus” (237,000), “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” (265,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (247,000) drew in more young Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Single Parents,” “Speechless,” “Splitting Up Together,” “The Kids Are Alright” and “The Rookie;” CBS’ “Bull,” “Macgyver,” “Madam Secretary,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Ransom;” NBC’s “Blacklist” and “Blindspot;” FOX’s “The Gifted” and “Proven Innocent;” as well as CW’s “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Roswell New Mexico” and “Supergirl.”
- Univision’s two-hour premiere of the U.S. edition of “Me Caigo De Risa” attracted 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 489,000 Adults 18-49 and 180,000 Adults 18-34 on Sunday night. The sketch comedy series delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+10%) and Adults 18-49 (+18%) to the network’s Sunday 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot from that a year ago as well as outperformed CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Supergirl” and “Charmed” by double-digit margins with both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
- For the 2nd consecutive week, Univision’s primetime newsmagazine “Aquí y Ahora” increased its audience week-over-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+8% to 1.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (+11% to 566,000). With year-over-year audience growth of +18%, “Aquí y Ahora” also out-delivered Telemundo’s “Exatlón Estados Unidos” head-to-head in the 7 p.m. hour (+27% adv.) and entire airing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (+15% adv.) among Adults 18-49.
