Saturday Night Fútbol Doubleheader Fuels Univision in Primetime, Finishes Ahead of NBC, FOX and Telemundo Among Young Adults 18-34

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of February 4, 2019 to February 10, 2019

  • On Saturday night, Univision captured the No. 3 broadcast network ranking for the entire night, ahead of NBC, FOX and Telemundo among Adults 18-34 with its live coverage of “Sábado Fútbolero.” The back-to-back soccer matches – América vs. Leon and Necaxa vs. Guadalajara (Chivas) – delivered an average audience of 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 565,000 Adults 18-49 and 229,000 Adults 18-34, nearly doubling the network’s audience levels during the 8pm to 12am time slot from the previous Saturday. Both games were among the top-rated programs on broadcast television on Saturday night among Adults 18-34 with Necaxa vs. Guadalajara (Chivas) coming in at No. 4 (234,000) and América vs. Leon finishing at No. 6 (225,000). The sports event also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+46% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+42% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+18% adv.).
  • Univision increased its primetime audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+12% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+9% to 619,000) and Adults 18-34 (+8% to 245,000), marking the third week of consecutive audience growth with both the key Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 demographics.
  • Univision finished as the 5th most-watched broadcast network in primetime, outperforming The CW for the 20th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season with 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 619,000 Adults 18-49 and 245,000 Adults 18-34. This also marked the 6th consecutive week that Univision held the fifth-place network ranking on broadcast television in primetime with both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights for the second consecutive week among Adults 18-34.
  • For the 6th consecutive week, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+22% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+10%) as well as for the 15th consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+32% adv.).
  • Averaging more than half-a-million Adult 18-49 viewers, “Jesus,” (557,000) “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” (655,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (659,000) positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network, outperforming Telemundo by +11%, +15% and +41% during the respective weeknight 8pm, 9pm and 10pm hours.
    • “Amar A Muerte” delivered its highest-rated weekly performance with 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+ and second-highest with 659,000 Adults 18-49. The supernatural series also made Univision the No. 1 broadcast network in the 10pm hour on Friday night, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and Telemundo among Adults 18-34.
    • All three weeknight series, “Jesus” (223,000),  “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” (265,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (272,000) averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of NBC’s “Blacklist” and “Blindspot” as well as CW’s “All American,” “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Dynasty,” “Legacies” and “Roswell New Mexico.”
  • Univision’s special live coverage of the State of the Union Address, “Estado De La Union,” attracted 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 627,000 Adults 18-49 and 192,000 Adults 18-34 on Tuesday night and outperformed Telemundo’s news special, “Trump: Estado Nacion” by +22% among Total Viewers 2+ and +25% among Adults 18-49.
  • On Sunday night, Univision finished ahead of ABC, NBC, FOX and The CW during the finale of “Mira Quién Baila All Stars” among Adults 18-34. Airing from 8:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., “Mira Quién Baila All Stars” averaged its highest-rated telecast of the season with strong week-to-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+31% to 2.1 million) and Adults 18-34 (+29% to 313,000) as well as second-highest among Adults 18-49 (+29% to 773,000). The reality dance competition also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+30% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+12% adv.).
