Live Soccer on Univision Scores Victory Over ABC, CBS and Telemundo on Saturday Night Among Young Adults 18-34

Univision’s “Crónicas” Delivers More Young 18-34 Viewers than CBS and NBC During Sunday 10pm Hour

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of January 7, 2019 to January 13, 2019

  • With its live coverage of the Liga MX matchup between Cruz Azul and Guadalajara (Chivas), Univision captured the No. 3 broadcast network ranking, ahead of ABC, CBS and Telemundo on Saturday night among Adults 18-34. Cruz Azul vs. Guadalajara (Chivas) attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+42% to 1.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+63% to 511,000) and Adults 18-34 (+79% to 209,000) than the prior Saturday’s soccer match of Leon vs. Tigres UANL as well as increased the network’s audience levels in the 8pm to 10pm time slot from the comparable Saturday last year among Total Viewers 2+ (+21%), Adults 18-49 (+18%) and Adults 18-34 (+50%). The sports event also ranked within the top 10 most-watched programs on broadcast television and drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+39% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+35% adv.).
  • For the entire week, Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, outperforming The CW for the 16th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season with 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 589,000 Adults 18-49 and 224,000 Adults 18-34.
  • Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime for the 2nd consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Adults 18-49 (+20% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+10% adv.) as well as for the 11th consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+24% adv.).
  • Averaging over half-a-million Adult 18-49 viewers, “Jesus,” (570,000) “Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia” (604,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (608,000) positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network, out-delivering Telemundo by +28%, +7% and +37% during the respective weeknight 8pm, 9pm and 10pm hours. All three weeknight series also drew in more young Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Speechless,” CBS’ “Madam Secretary,” NBC’s “Blacklist” and CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”
  • On Sunday night (8 p.m.-10 p.m.), the second episode of “Mira Quién Baila All Stars” delivered week-to-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+9% to 2.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+16% to 802,000) and Adults 18-34 (+3% to 289,000), making Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo during the 8pm to 10pm time slot (+28% adv.) and for the entire night (+10% adv.) in the second straight week with the key Adult 18-49 demographic. The dance reality competition series also outperformed Telemundo’s two-hour premiere of “La Voz” on this night among Total Viewers 2+ (+47% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+21% adv.).
  • Univision finished ahead of CBS and NBC in the Sunday 10pm hour among Adults 18-34 with “Crónicas,” which averaged 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 601,000 Adults 18-49 and 220,000 Adults 18-34. The news program also delivered more Adults 18-49 (+11%) than the prior Sunday as well as to the network’s 10pm to 11pm time slot compared to the same Sunday in 2018 (+84%).
