Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of December 10, 2018 to December 16, 2018

Univision captured the No. 4 broadcast network ranking for the entire week during primetime, out-delivering ABC and The CW with 264,000 Adults 18-34 and finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network, ahead of The CW with 645,000 Adults 18-49 and 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+.

For the seventh consecutive week, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+33% adv.) as well as for the third consecutive week among Adults 18-49 (+39% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+22% adv.).

Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights for the second consecutive week among Adults 18-34.

Univision delivered audience growth during primetime from the comparable week in 2017 among Total Viewers 2+ (+4%), Adults 18-49 (+12%) and Adults 18-34 (+9%) and increased its audience week-over-week by +5% among both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

With its special live coverage of the first leg of the “2018 Liga MX Apertura Final” between Club America and Cruz Azul, Univision finished as the No. 2 broadcast network, ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC and The CW for the entire night among Adults 18-34 as well as in third-place, out-delivering ABC, NBC and The CW among Adults 18-49. The soccer match delivered 2.3 million Total Viewers 2+ and ranked as the third and sixth most-watched program on broadcast television among Adults 18-34 (483,000) and Adults 18-49 (1.2 million), respectively, outperforming the entire original primetime line-up on The CW (“Supernatural” and “Legacies”) and first-run episodes of ABC’s “The Great American Baking Show,” CBS’ “Murphy Brown” as well as NBC’s “Superstore” and “I Feel Bad.” The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+40% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+71% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+53% adv.).

On Sunday night, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the sixth consecutive week with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

  • The live broadcast of the second leg of the “2018 Liga MX Apertura Final” in which Club America claimed the championship title over Cruz Azul, drew in 2.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.4 million Adults 18-49 and 618,000 Adults 18-34 to rank as the highest-rated Liga MX match in the 2018 calendar year thus far with Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49. The soccer match also finished within the top 10 programs on broadcast television and positioned Univision among the top-rated broadcast networks on Sunday night, out-delivering ABC, The CW and Telemundo among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • The fifth annual “Premios Univision Deportes” attracted 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 619,000 Adults 18-49 and 261,000 Adults 18-34, marking its second highest-rated performance in the award show’s history with the key 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics. It also increased its audience from the 2017 edition by +36% among Adults 18-49 and +69% among Adults 18-34.

Airing weeknights at 8pm, “Jesus” averaged 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 497,000 Adults 18-49 and 180,000 Adults 18-34 while also positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the time period, surpassing Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+4% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+16% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+4% adv.).

Univision’s “Amar A Muerte” attracted 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+ and out-delivered first-run episodes of ABC’s “Speechless,” NBC’s “I Feel Bad” and “Midnight, Texas” as well as CW’s “All American,” “Black Lightning,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Legacies,” and “Supernatural” among Adults 18-49 (561,000) and Adults 18-34 (244,000). The supernatural series also outperformed Telemundo’s “Señora Acero V” head-to-head in the Monday through Friday 10pm hour by +20% among Total Viewers 2+, +16% among Adults 18-49 and +13% among Adults 18-34 for the seventh consecutive week.
