World Premiere of Univision’s Supernatural Series ‘Amar A Muerte’ Scares Up 2.6 Million Total Viewers 2+, Tops CBS Among Adults 18-34

Univision Ranks as No. 1 Spanish-Language Network During Premiere and Entire Night Among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 30, 2018 ─ Univision’s world premiere of “Amar a Muerte,” featuring the return of actress Angelique Boyer to the network, reached 2.6 million Total Viewers 2+, who tuned in to all or part of the one-hour airing Monday night. The supernatural series averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 687,000 Adults 18-49 and 285,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision as one of the top-rated broadcast networks in the 10 p.m. hour, ahead of CBS among Adults 18-34. It also made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 in that 10 p.m. window.

Going head-to-head with Telemundo’s “Señora Acero V,” the premiere of “Amar a Muerte” scored double-digit audience advantages among Total Viewers 2+ (+34% advantage) and Adults 18-49 (+18% adv.). In key local markets, including Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia and Atlanta, Univision more than doubled the average Telemundo audience in the 10 p.m. hour.

In addition to the Spanish-language win at 10 p.m., the highly anticipated debut of the supernatural series that aims to unravel the mystery of life after death positioned Univision as No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night, outperforming Telemundo by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+32% advantage), Adults 18-49 (+27% advantage) and Adults 18-34 (+21% advantage). “Amar a Muerte” also out-delivered Telemundo’s entire primetime Monday line-up (the “La Sultana” premiere, “Falsa Identidad” and “Señora Acero V”) among Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49.

“Amar a Muerte” also positioned Univision as the No. 4 broadcast network for the entire night among the Adults 18-34, out-delivering CBS, The CW and Telemundo.  Compared to other first-run programming on Monday night, “Amar a Muerte” also averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than CBS’ “Happy Together,” “Magnum P.I.” and “Bull,” as well as the entire original line-up on The CW (“Arrow” and “DCs Legends of Tomorrow”).

An original W Studios production, “Amar a Muerte” is a series following an intricate story of crossed fates and second chances unfolds as media magnate Leon Carvajal (Alexis Ayala) is assassinated on his wedding day at the same time a hitman in the U.S. is executed in the electric chair. The soul of the magnate reincarnates in the body of the hired assassin known as “El Chino Valdés” (Michel Brown) and, in turn, the killer’s soul winds up inhabiting a professor of anthropology played by Arturo Barba. Leon’s spirit returns to his old life in a new body not only to find out that his family is falling apart but also that his beautiful wife (Angelique Boyer) already has other plans that involve his business partner (Alejandro Nones). Each man will now have to deal with not just a new body, but how to adapt to a new spirit, as well.
