Univision Dances to Second Straight Week-Over-Week Primetime Audience Growth Among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with Live Soccer and “Mira Quién Baila” Season Finale
Univision Finishes as No. 1 Spanish-Language Network for Third Straight Week – with 5% Advantage over Telemundo Among Total Viewers 2+ – and Has Fifth Consecutive Week of Growth Among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Monday-Friday Primetime
Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of September 10, 2018 to September 16, 2018
Univision finished ahead of CW in primetime for the entire week with week-to-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.4 million), Adults 18-49 (+9% to 580,000) and Adults 18-34 (+11% to 247,000), marking the second consecutive week of audience growth.
For the third consecutive week, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime, out-delivering Telemundo by +5% among Total Viewers 2+.
Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
On Sunday night, Univision’s two-hour finale of the sixth installment of “Mira Quién Baila” averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-to-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+7% to 537,000) and Adults 18-34 (+21% to 243,000). The reality dance competition series consistently increased its audience throughout its two-hour broadcast with double-digit audience growth in the last half-hour compared to the first half-hour among both Adults 18-49 (+20%) and Total Viewers 2+ (+24%) as well as drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television, besting Telemundo by double-digit margins during the 8pm to 10pm time slot (+13% adv.) and for the entire night on Sunday (+16% adv.) among Total Viewers 2+.
Univision has consistently increased its weeknight primetime audience in the last five weeks with audience growth from the prior week of +9% among Total Viewers 2+ (1.5 million), +12% among Adults 18-49 (643,000) and +11% among Adults 18-34 (+9% to 269,000).
- “El Rico y Lázaro” averaged 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 606,000 Adults 18-49 and 244,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during the weeknight 8pm hour for the 47th consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages of +34% over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+.
- In its premiere week, the second season of “Mi Marido Tiene Mas Familia” attracted 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 591,000 Adults 18-49 and 249,000 Adults 18-34. The dramedy also delivered more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as ABC’s “Take Two;” CBS’ “Elementary” and “Salvation” as well as CW’s “Burden of Truth” and “The Outpost.”
- “La Piloto II” increased its audience week-to-week among Total Viewers 2+ (+4% to 1.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+6% to 446,000) and Adults 18-34 (+8% to 186,000), making Univision one of the top 5 broadcast networks during the Monday through Friday 10pm hour, surpassing ABC (+19% adv.) and CBS (+21% adv.) by double-digit margins with the young 18 to 34 demographic.
On Monday night, Univision outperformed CBS and the CW during the 9pm hour among both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 with the finale of “La Bella y Las Bestias,” which delivered over half-a-million Adults 18-49 (718,000) and 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+. The series was also the sixth most-watched program on all of broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 (281,000) viewers than first-run episodes of CBS’ “Salvation” and “Elementary.”
With its live coverage of the Liga MX soccer match between Club América and Monarcas Morelia, Univision captured the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking on Saturday night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+27% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+53% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+67% adv.). The sports event drew in more Total Viewers 2+ (+27% to 734,000), Adults 18-49 (+48% to 402,000) and Adults 18-34 (+97% to 191,000) to the network’s 8pm to 10pm time slot from the comparable Saturday last year.
Univision’s Sunday night news programs, “Aquí y Ahora” and “Crónicas” delivered audience gains of +15% (440,000) and +3% (535,000), respectively among Adults 18-49 compared to the prior Sunday. “Crónicas” also averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+20% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+36% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+2% adv.) than Telemundo’s “Don Francisco Te Invita” head-to-head during the Sunday 10pm hour for the fifth consecutive week.
