Liga MX Powers Univision Past ABC, CBS, FOX and Telemundo for Third Consecutive Saturday Night Among Young Adults 18-34

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of August 13, 2018 to August 19, 2018

Last week, Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network, ahead of FOX and CW during primetime with 188,000 Adults 18-34 and surpassed the CW with 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+ and 442,000 Adults 18-49.

Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.

For the third consecutive Saturday, Univision finished ahead of ABC, CBS and FOX for the entire night among Adults 18-34 with live coverage of “Liga MX.” Preceded by the soccer match between Pachuca and Lobos BUAP which attracted 448,000 Total Viewers 2+, 187,000 Adults 18-49 and 101,000 Adults 18-34, Queretaro versus America retained and increased this overall lead-in audience by +78% with 796,000 Total Viewers 2+ while also ranked as the second and sixth most-watched program on all of broadcast television on Saturday night in the respective Adult 18-34 (197,000) and Adult 18-49 (407,000) demographics. The sports event also positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the fourth consecutive Saturday night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+26% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+35% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+50% adv.).

Airing weeknights at 8pm, “El Rico y Lázaro” increased its audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+3% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+4% to 537,000) and Adults 18-34 (+7% to 232,000) while also made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the time-period, outperforming Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+42% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+8% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+9% adv.).

With week-to-week audience gains, Univision’s “La Bella y Las Bestias” (+4% to 190,000) and “La Piloto II” (+11% to 185,000) averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Match Game” and “Take Two;” CBS’ “Elementary” and “Salvation;” NBC’s “Trial & Error;” FOX’s “Love Connection” as well as CW’s “Burden of Truth,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”

Sunday night’s two-hour airing of “Mira Quién Baila” averaged 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-to-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+16% to 527,000) and Adults 18-34 (+9% to 197,000) as well as drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television, surpassing Telemundo by +21% in the key 18 to 49 demographic. The reality dance competition series also drew in more Total Viewers 2+ (+58%), Adults 18-49 (+35%) and Adults 18-34 (+23%) to the network’s 8pm to 10pm time slot from the comparable Sunday last year.

Univision’s Sunday night news programs, “Aquí y Ahora” and “Crónicas,” delivered double-digit audience growth of +12% (355,000) and +46% (495,000), respectively among Adults 18-49 compared to the prior Sunday. “Crónicas” also averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+53% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+47% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+49% adv.) than Telemundo’s “Don Francisco Te Invita” head-to-head in the 10pm hour.
