Univision is No. 1 Ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and Telemundo for the Entire Night on Second Consecutive Saturday Among Adults 18-34

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of August 6, 2018 to August 12, 2018

Last week, Univision finished ahead of CW during primetime with 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 446,000 Adults 18-49 and 185,000 Adults 18-34.

Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights this past week among Adults 18-34.

Averaging over half-a-million Adult 18-49 (519,000) viewers, Univision’s “El Rico y Lázaro” out-delivered first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as CBS’ “Elementary” and “Salvation” and CW’s “Burden of Truth,” “The Hundred” and “The Outpost.” The epic series also positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during the weeknight 8pm hour for the 42nd consecutive week with double-digit audience advantages of +28% over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+.

Univision’s weeknight dramatic series, “El Rico y Lázaro” (218,000), “La Bella y Las Bestias” (182,000) and “La Piloto” (167,000) averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “The Gong Show;” CBS’ “Elementary,” “Salvation” and “TKO: Total Knock Out;” NBC’s “Reverie” and “Trial & Error;” FOX’s “Love Connection;” as well as CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Burden of Truth,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Hundred,” “The Outpost” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”

With its live coverage of Liga MX featuring the two soccer matches between Tigres UANL versus Toluca and America versus Monterrey, Univision captured the No. 1 broadcast network ranking, ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and Telemundo for the second consecutive Saturday night among Adults 18-34. Preceded by Tigres UANL versus Toluca which drew in 672,000 Total Viewers 2+, 356,000 Adults 18-49 and 173,000 Adults 18-34, the match between America and Monterrey retained and increased its overall lead-in audience by +33% with 894,000 Total Viewers 2+ while also ranked as the No. 1 program on all of broadcast television on Saturday night among both Adults 18-49 (534,000) and Adults 18-34 (244,000). Not only did the sports event deliver week-to-week audience growth to the network’s Saturday 7:55pm to 12:00am time slot among Total Viewers 2+ (+10%), Adults 18-49 (+11%) and Adults 18-34 (+20%) but it also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo in both the key Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 demographics.

Univision’s “Aquí y Ahora” attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+25% to 932,000), Adults 18-49 (+13% to 315,000) and Adults 18-34 (+15% to 144,000) to the network’s 7pm hour from the comparable Sunday last year. The primetime newsmagazine also increased its audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+25%), Adults 18-49 (+24%) and Adults 18-34 (+22%).

On Sunday night, the third episode of the sixth installment of “Mira Quién Baila” delivered 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 455,000 Adults 18-49 and 180,000 Adults 18-34 as well as made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night, surpassing Telemundo by +23% across all Viewers 2+. Head-to-head in the 9pm hour, the reality dance competition series outperformed Telemundo’s “Falco” by double-to-triple digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+124% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+74% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+47% adv.).
