Univision Increases Primetime Audience For Second Consecutive Week Among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

Univision Finishes as the No. 1 Spanish-Language Network Across All Key Demos and No. 2 Overall Broadcast Network, Ahead of ABC, CBS and NBC on Saturday Night Among Adults 18-34 with Live Coverage of Liga MX

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of July 23, 2018 to July 29, 2018

Last week, Univision finished ahead of CW in primetime with 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 479,000 Adults 18-49 and 206,000 Adults 18-34.

Univision increased its audience from the prior week during primetime among Total Viewers 2+ (+6%), Adults 18-49 (+5%) and Adults 18-34 (+7%), marking the second week of consecutive audience growth.

Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.

Univision’s “El Rico y Lazaro” delivered 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+ with week-to-week audience gains among Adults 18-49 (+4% to 565,000) and Adults 18-34 (+9% to 237,000). The series also made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network during the weeknight 8pm hour, surpassing Telemundo by +3% among Adults 18-49 and +47% among Total Viewers 2+.

Airing weeknights at 9pm, Univision’s “La Bella y Las Bestias” averaged 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 454,000 Adults 18-49 and 185,000 Adults 18-34. With week-to-week audience lifts of +4%, the novela also drew in more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Take Two” and “Quantico;” CBS’ “Elementary” and “Salvation;” NBC’s “Reverie;” FOX’s “One Strange Rock” as well as CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Burden of Truth,” “Masters of Illusion,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” “The Hundred,” “The Originals,” “The Outpost” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”

On Wednesday night, Univision captured the No. 3 broadcast network ranking during the 10pm hour, ahead of CBS and NBC among Adults 18-34 with the finale of the third installment of “El Chapo,” which attracted 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 458,000 Adults 18-49 and 220,000 Adults 18-34. The finale telecast also averaged more Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 viewers than the original line-up on the CW (“Burden of Truth” and “The Originals”) on this night.

With its live coverage of Liga MX featuring the two soccer matches between America versus Atlas and Guadalajara (“Chivas”) versus Cruz Azul, Univision finished as the No. 2 broadcast network, out-delivering ABC, CBS and NBC on Saturday night among Adults 18-34. Preceded by America versus Atlas which drew in 706,000 Total Viewers 2+, 370,000 Adults 18-49 and 170,000 Adults 18-34, the match between Guadalajara and Cruz Azul retained and increased its overall audience by +17% with 823,000 Total Viewers 2+ while also ranked as the second and fifth most-watched program on all of broadcast television on Saturday night among Adults 18-34 (226,000) and Adults 18-49 (451,000), respectively. The sports event also drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television for the entire night, outperforming Telemundo by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+53% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+70% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+81% adv.).

For the second consecutive Sunday, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+55% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+29% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+36% adv.).

  • “Aquí y Ahora” increased its audience from its previous airing by double-to-triple digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+29% to 964,000), Adults 18-49 (+56% to 370,000) and Adults 18-34 (+104% to 145,000).
  •  The two-hour premiere of the sixth installment of “Mira Quién Baila” averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 526,000 Adults 18-49 and 248,000 Adults 18-34 while also boosted the network’s Sunday 8pm to 10pm time slot by double-digits compared to the same night in 2017, prior four weeks as well as the month of June 2018.
  • Simulcast on the Univision and UniMás networks, the second season of “La Piloto” debuted to a combined average audience of 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 667,000 Adults 18-49 and 261,000 Adults 18-34. The premiere telecast also made Univision the No. 2 broadcast network, ahead of CBS and NBC in the Sunday 10pm hour among Adults 18-34.
