WHAT: Univision’s primetime newsmagazine “Aquí y Ahora” and Univision News’ Investigative Unit present “Carlos Lehder: Bonanza y Ruina del capo que hizo a Escobar” (Carlos Lehder: Bananza and Ruin of the Drug Lord who made Escobar), this Sunday, November 22 at 7 p.m. ET.
Carlos Lehder was the drug lord who made Pablo Escobar rich by operating the first air routes that allowed making large shipments of cocaine to the US. In this special, “Aquí y Ahora” and Univision Investiga reconstruct Lehder’s life, from his youth in New York, his addiction to marijuana and his stint as a car thief, to the time he spent in the prison system in the US, the creation of a political movement in Colombia that combined his admiration for Nazism and the use of drugs as a political and anti-imperialist weapon. The special also goes into the founding of a drug trafficking paradise in the Bahamas and finally his trial in Jacksonville, Florida and his explosive testimony against Panama’s General Manuel Antonio Noriega.
