Univision Takes a Bow with “Premios Juventud,” Defeats ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX Among A18-49, A18-34 and Persons 12-34

Three-hour Award Show Reaches More than 6.0 Million Total Viewers 2+ and Delivers the Night’s Most-Social Program Across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

MIAMI – JULY 19, 2019 – Univision’s telecast of “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) won the evening as the summer’s premier celebration positioned Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network on Thursday night, ahead of ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and People 12-34. Airing from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. ET/PT, the 16th annual edition of “Premios Juventud” reached 6.1 million Total Viewers 2+, who turned in for all or part of the three-hour live broadcast. Additionally, with a record number of today’s most popular and emerging artists gathering for “Premios Juventud,” the must-see event lit up social media, generating 7.2 million total interactions across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to become the most-social program for the entire day.

Celebrating the best in music and current trends in pop culture, digital media, fashion, TV and social media, the live award show averaged 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 923,000 Adults 18-49, 457,000 Adults 18-34 and 572,000 Persons 12-34. “Premios Juventud” ranked as the No. 1 program on broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 and Person 12-34 viewers than the entire original line-ups on ABC (“Holey Moley,” “Family Food Fight” and “Reef Break”), CBS (“Love Island,” “Big Brother and “Elementary”), FOX (“MasterChef” and “Spin the Wheel”) and The CW (“iZombie and “The Outpost”), as well as the first-run episode of NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night.” It was also the second most-watched program on broadcast television with more Adult 18-49 viewers than the entire original line-ups on ABC, FOX and The CW, as well as first-run episodes of CBS’ “Love Island” and “Elementary and NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night.”

Furthermore, “Premios Juventud” attracted more Hispanic viewers in the demographic groups of Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34 than the latest editions of the major English-language music award shows such as “American Music Awards,” “Billboard Music Awards,” “Country Music Awards” and the “Video Music Awards.” Additionally, the award show positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+43% advantage), Adults 18-49 (+48% advantage), Adults 18-34 (+74% advantage) and Persons 12-34 (+86% advantage).

The evening’s pre-show, “PJ Takeover,” averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 629,000 Adults 18-49, 286,000 Adults 18-34 and 365,000 Persons 12-34 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. ”PJ Takeover” out-delivered Telemundo in the 7:00 p.m. hour by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+16% advantage), Adults 18-49 (+60% advantage), Adults 18-34 (+63% advantage) and Persons 12-34 (+94% advantage).
