Univision Reaches 7.9 Million Viewers 2+ with “Premios Juventud” & Ranks No. 1 Among Adults 18-34 & Persons 12-34

Univision Finishes as the No. 1 Spanish-Language Network Outperforming its Closest Competitor by Double-Digit Margins on this Night Among Key Demos

Univision is the No. 1 Broadcast Station in the Time Period in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Sacramento Among Adults 18-34

NEW YORK – JULY 7, 2017 – This year’s 14th annual edition of “Premios Juventud” (Youth Award), themed “Apostando por el Futuro” (Betting on the Future) positioned Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network for the tenth consecutive year on this night among both Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and CW. The star-studded award show reached 7.9 million Total Viewers 2+, who tuned in to all or part of the three-hour live simulcast airing on Univision and Galavisión. Univision was also the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night, out-performing its closest competitor by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+96%), Adults 18-49 (+95%), Adults 18-34 (+90%)and Persons 12-34 (+98%).

“Premios Juventud’s social good focus and new categories resonated with our young and dynamic audience this year,” said Univision’s President of Music, Jorge “Pepo” Ferradas. “These ratings results are a testament of our continued commitment to deliver the best-in-class programming that unites music’s top icons and emerging artists as well as spotlights our ‘Agents of Change,’ all under one roof.”

The live telecast of the youth award show delivered an average audience of 2.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.3 million Adults 18-49, 592,000 Adults 18-34 and 766,000 Persons 12-34. “Premios Juventud” was the second most-watched program on broadcast television among both Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34 as well as the fourth-highest among Adults 18-49, out-performing the entire original line-ups on ABC (“Boy Band,” “Battle of the Network Stars” and “The Gong Show”) and NBC (“Hollywood Game Night,” “The Wall” and “The Night Shift”) as well as the first-run episode of CBS’ “Zoo.”

Additionally, “Premios Juventud” attracted more Hispanic viewers in the demographic groups of Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34 than the latest editions of the major English-language music award shows such as “American Music Awards,” “Billboard Music Awards,” “Country Music Awards” and the “Video Music Awards.”

The “Premios Juventud” youth awards show was broadcast live on the Univision Network and featured live performances by top music stars.  Fans voted online to select the winners in 10 categories with two special awards given to fan favorite Enrique Iglesias (Idolo de la Juventud/Youth Idol) and Maluma (Premio Supersónico/Supersonic Award). This year the summer celebration of what Hispanic youth like in music, entertainment and fashion, expanded its focus to social causes that directly affect their communities by adding the “Agentes de Cambio” (Agents of Change) category.
