Univision 65 Names News Anchor

Philadelphia, PA — After covering everything from parades to politics as a freelancer, Ilia Garcia has been named to the staff of Univision 65, the Spanish language television station in Philadelphia/Vineland, NJ.

General Manager and Eastern Regional Vice President Augustine Martinez announced Ilia Garcia will become the station’s main anchor effective February 17, 2004.

“Ilia is the future of our news department as we prepare to launch our 6 PM and 11 PM news shows in the near future,” said Mr. Martinez.

“I’m very excited about joining the Univision 65 team. I’m looking forward to providing important news of the day to our many viewers throughout the Tri-state area,” says Ms. Garcia.

Ms. Garcia will also anchor Univision’s 65 weekly Public Affairs show, “Voces Del Valle.” The Saturday morning show will soon launch a new and improved format.

A native of Puerto Rico, Ms. Garcia earned a Bachelors of Arts in Communications and Masters of Science in Public Affairs, both from the University of Massachusetts.  Ms. Garcia previously worked for Univision’s Affiliate Relations Department in New York City and as a freelance reporter for Univision 65 during the past two years.  Ms. Garcia lives in New Jersey.
