The local adaptation, produced by IKO Productions, joins the format’s recent premiere in Spain with Mediacrest and Telemadrid

MIAMI – October 5, 2026 – TelevisaUnivision continues the international expansion of “C.D.I.: Código de Investigación” with a new adaptation in Hungary. TV2, one of the country’s leading networks, will air “Lezárt akták – a bűn nyomában” (“Closed Files: On the Trail of Crime”), produced by IKO Productions and currently in post-production.
The Hungarian version will tackle criminal cases that have had a significant impact on the country, combining investigation, expert testimony, and dramatic reconstructions. It will be hosted by András Stohl, one of the most recognized figures on Hungarian television, and will feature Péter Doszpot, a renowned former homicide detective.
Originally developed by TelevisaUnivision, “C.D.I.: Código de Investigación” combines investigation, testimony, expert analysis, and studio conversation in a true crime format conceived for television. The arrival in Hungary joins the recent premiere in Spain of “La Huella del Crimen,” an adaptation produced by Mediacrest for Telemadrid.
“‘C.D.I.’ brings together many of the things we look for in a format: an idea that is easy to understand, powerful execution, and the flexibility for each market to make it its own. TV2 and IKO Productions are bringing that foundation to Hungary with great ambition. This adaptation shows the potential we see in the IP, with new announcements to come after MIPCOM,” said Guillermo Borensztein, SVP Content Licensing at TelevisaUnivision.
“With True Crime, our goal is to bring audiences compelling, high-quality stories that are both engaging and thought-provoking. We truly believe in the strength of this format and hope it will become a long-term success, remaining on screen for many seasons to come,” said Gábor Fischer, Deputy CEO of TV2 Media Group.
The agreement expands the international presence of TelevisaUnivision’s entertainment and unscripted formats and reinforces the company’s strategy of reaching new markets through local adaptations, in addition to broadcasts of the original version in Uruguay, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Canada.
