Miami, FL. – March 26, 2024 – The 9th annual LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS will celebrate music legends with special honors on Thursday, April 25 at 7p/6c. Award-winning Mexican group Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga and legendary Venezuelan singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner will receive the prestigious Latin AMA Legacy Award, acknowledging their remarkable musical careers. Additionally, Reggaeton icon Yandel will be honored with the Latin AMA Pioneer Award for his contributions to the urban genre. The annual awards show will air live for a second consecutive year on Univision, UNIMÁS, and Galavisión. This year, the ceremony expands its reach, becoming available for the first time on ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service, across the United States, Mexico, and all of Latin America.
More than two decades of captivating audiences have earned Banda MS, the prestigious Latin AMA Legacy Award. Their journey began in Sinaloa, and their music has since propelled them to become one of the most beloved acts in Latin and Mexican music. No strangers to recognition, Banda MS has already secured four LATIN AMAs. This year, they’re vying for another award in the Best Collaboration – Regional Mexican category for their song “Pa’ Olvidarme de Tus Besos.”
Recognized as one of the greatest legends of romantic music, singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner will receive the Latin AMA Legacy Award for his extraordinary artistic legacy. With a musical career spanning more than four successful decades, Montaner has sold more than 80 million records between unreleased albums and compilations.
The urban music scene will be celebrating Yandel, who will be honored with the Latin AMA Pioneer Award. A true trailblazer, Yandel‘s influence has resonated across generations. He has been a pioneer of the genre and a role model for aspiring urban artists. This Puerto Rican artist’s talent extends beyond performing, as he’s also a songwriter, musician, and music producer. Yandel‘s achievements include a LATIN AMA win for Album of the Year in 2016, and this year he’s garnered four nominations: Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Best Song – Urban, and Best Collaboration – Urban.
The annual awards show pays tribute to the most influential and iconic Latin artists in 27 categories, with a total of 76 nominees that span all musical genres including Pop, Urban, Regional Mexican, and Tropical. The 2024 LATIN AMAs nominations are based on key fan interactions through streaming, sales, radio broadcasts, tours, and social media data provided by Billboard and Luminate during the eligibility period (February 11, 2023, to February 24, 2024).

La novena edición de los Latin AMAs se transmitirá en vivo por Univision, UNIMÁS y Galavisión desde el MGM Grand Garden Arena de Las Vegas el 25 de abril a las 7p/6c. La legendaria Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga recibirá el premio especial Latin AMA Legacy como un reconocimiento a sus más de 20 años de carrera artística que inicio en el año 2003 en su natal Sinaloa y eventualmente ha alcanzado la máxima popularidad hasta convertirse en una de las agrupaciones más representativas de la música latina y mexicana. Banda MS ha sido ganadora de 4 premios LATIN AMAs y este año cuenta con una nominación dentro de la categoría Mejor Colaboración – Regional Mexicano con el tema “Pa’ Olvidarme de Tus Besos”.
