Univision Noticias Honored with Three News and Documentary Emmy® Awards

The awards recognize Noticiero Univision, Aquí y Ahora, and Univision Noticias Digital. Teresa Rodriguez, the first woman to host a national newscast in the United States, opened the ceremony.

NEW YORK – September 29, 2022 – Univision Noticias, the award-winning news division of TelevisaUnivision, the leading Spanish-language content and media company in the U.S., was awarded three News and Documentary Emmy® Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts and Science (NATAS); one of the awards honors NOTICIERO UNIVISION with JORGE RAMOS and ILIA CALDERON as the Outstanding News Program in Spanish.

The additional awards recognized AQUÍ Y AHORA’s investigative story, “La Oscura Luz del Mundo (The Dark Light of the World),” in the Outstanding Investigative Journalism in Spanish category and UNIVISION NOTICIAS DIGITAL’s story, “Unlivable Oasis” in the Outstanding Science, Technology, or Environmental Coverage category.  

NOTICIERO UNIVISION with JORGE RAMOS and ILIA CALDERON was recognized as the Outstanding News Program in SpanishUnivision Noticias’ TERESA RODRÍGUEZ, the first woman to host a national newscast in the United States, accepted the award.

In the AQUÍ Y AHORA – “La Oscura Luz del Mundo (The Dark Light of the World)”  special, GERARDO REYES, Director of Univision Investiga, interviewed Sochil Martin; a whistleblower and a trafficking and assault victim of Naasón Joaquín García, the leader of La Luz de Mundo Church. The investigative story further interviewed witnesses, lawyers, and experts who analyzed the abuse of minors that the Church perpetuated. ILIA CALDERÓN and PATRICIA JANIOT presented the AQUÍ Y AHORA special.

In the UNIVISION NOTICIAS DIGITAL – “Unlivable Oasis” story, UNIVISION NOTICIAS DIGITAL follows Pedro Nicolas and his family’s struggle to find housing on the frontlines of the housing crisis; the story was made in collaboration with TIME, ProPublica, and TrulyCa.

The News & Documentary Emmy Awards were presented on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, during a live ceremony in New York City. TERESA RODRÍGUEZ, the trailblazing Univision Noticias journalist, opened the ceremony.

Univision Noticias Honrado con Tres Premios Emmy® de Noticias y Documentales

Los premios reconocen a Noticiero Univision, Aquí y Ahora y Univision Noticias Digital. Teresa Rodríguez, la primera mujer en presentar un noticiero nacional en los Estados Unidos, abrió la ceremonia.

NUEVA YORK – 29 de septiembre de 2022 – Univision Noticias, la galardonada división de noticias de TelevisaUnivision, la compañía de medios y contenido en español líder en los EE. UU., recibió tres Premios Emmy® de Noticias y Documentales de la Academia Nacional de Artes y Science (NATAS). NOTICIERO UNIVISION con JORGE RAMOS e ILIA CALDERÓN fue reconocido como el Destacado Noticiero en Español. TERESA RODRÍGUEZ de Univision Noticias, la primera mujer en conducir un noticiero nacional en los Estados Unidos, aceptó el premio.

En el especial de AQUÍ Y AHORA“La Oscura Luz del Mundo”, GERARDO REYES, Director de Univision Investiga, entrevistó a Sochil Martin; denunciante y víctima de asalto de Naasón Joaquín García, líder de la Iglesia La Luz del Mundo. La historia de investigación entrevistó además a testigos, abogados y expertos que analizaron el abuso de menores que perpetuó la Iglesia. La historia fue presentada por ILIA CALDERON y PATRICIA JANIOT.

En la historia de UNIVISION NOTICIAS DIGITALOasis inhabitable”, UNIVISION NOTICIAS DIGITAL sigue la lucha de Pedro Nicolás y su familia para encontrar vivienda en la primera línea de la crisis de vivienda; la historia se hizo en colaboración con TIME, ProPublica y TrulyCa.
