Festivities to Take Place Sunday, September 25 from 12P to 7P
LOS ANGELES – SEPTEMBER 20, 2022 – Univision Los Angeles announced today its plans for commemorating their coming 60th anniversary of broadcasting and serving the Los Angeles community. It was Sunday, September 29, 1962, at 3:00p.m. that KMEX-TV, Channel 34 first went on air. The flagship station of the Univision Network will be celebrating its anniversary in the heart of Los Angeles with the community that has been loyal to them for six decades.
“KMEX’s foundation to serve our community, to advocate for them and give them a voice in a time where it was needed most has been the backbone of what has driven us since we first went on air in 1962,” said Alejandra Santamaria, Interim General Manager, Univision Local Media. “We are celebrating 60 years as a broadcast institution and would not have it any other way than to celebrate this milestone with our community in the heart of Los Angeles.”
To celebrate their six decades of serving the community, Univision 34 will host a festival on Sunday, September 25 at El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Angeles, better known as Placita Olvera, in Downtown Los Angeles from 12p.m. to 7p.m.
Scheduled to perform are Los Gemelos de Sinaloa, made up of twin brothers Juan Moises and Robert Cardenas from Paramount, California. They grew up in Tomochi, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico where they started performing with mariachis in restaurants and markets since the age of five. By the age of 13 they started their regional music band Los Gemelos de Sinaloa, incorporating the state in Mexico where their parents are from. They have a loyal fanbase of 1.3M Instagram followers, 884K on TikTok and 7.18M Youtube subscribers.
Also performing is Banda Fortuna from Guamúchil, Sinaloa, Mexico. They band was formed in 2008 and is made up of 19 young men from various parts of the region of Evora and Guasave. The group has established a musical style being pioneers in combining Sinaloa banda music with the country genre using the requinto in its melodies, consolidating itself in the public’s taste, in addition to great collaborations with other bands.
The festival will also feature a second stage to highlight local musical and dance performers that are made of the talent our community represents. In addition, there will be food trucks, a Contigo Community Partner Pavilion, and much more.
In addition, there will be four 30-minute historical specials on KMEX-TV and the impact it’s had on the community during the past 60-years. All four episodes will be available on www.vix.com

UNIVISION 34 CELEBRA SU 60 ANIVERSARIO DE SERVICIO A LA COMUNIDAD CON UN CONCIERTO Y FESTIVAL EN EL HISTÓRICO EL PUEBLO DE LOS ÁNGELES
Las festividades se llevarán a cabo el domingo 25 de septiembre de 12 p.m. a 7 p.m.
LOS ÁNGELES – 20 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 2022 – Univision Los Ángeles anunció hoy sus planes para conmemorar su próximo aniversario, en el que cumplirá 60 años como emisora sirviendo a la comunidad de Los Ángeles. KMEX-TV, Canal 34 trasmitió al aire por primera vez el domingo 29 de septiembre de 1962 a las 3:00p.m. La estación insignia de Univision Network celebrará su aniversario en el corazón de Los Ángeles con la comunidad que le ha sido fiel durante seis décadas.
“La fundación de KMEX para servir a nuestra comunidad, abogar por ellos y darles una voz en un momento en el que era sumamente necesario fue la base de lo que nos ha impulsado desde que salimos al aire por primera vez en 1962”, comentó Alejandra Santamaría, Interim General Manager, Univision Local Media. “Estamos celebrando 60 años como una institución de radiodifusión y la mejor manera de celebrar este hito es hacerlo junto a nuestra comunidad en el corazón de Los Ángeles”.
Para celebrar sus seis décadas de servicio a la comunidad, Univision 34 organizará un festival el domingo 25 de septiembre en El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles, mejor conocido como Placita Olvera, en el centro de Los Ángeles de 12 p.m. a 7 p.m.
Una de las presentaciones programadas es de Los Gemelos de Sinaloa, grupo compuesto por los hermanos mellizos Juan Moisés y Robert Cárdenas de Paramount, California. Crecieron en Tomochi, en el estado de Chihuahua, México, donde comenzaron a actuar con mariachis en restaurantes y mercados desde los cinco años. Cuando tenían 13 años crearon su banda de música regional mexicana Los Gemelos de Sinaloa, incorporando el estado de México de donde son sus padres. Tienen un conjunto de seguidores leales de 1,3 millones en Instagram, 884.000 en TikTok y 7,18 millones de suscriptores en Youtube.
También se presentará la Banda Fortuna de Guamúchil, Sinaloa, México. La banda se formó en 2008 y está compuesta por 19 jóvenes de varios puntos de la región de Évora y Guasave. La agrupación ha establecido un estilo musical propio, siendo pioneros en combinar la música de banda sinaloense con el género country utilizando el requinto en sus melodías, consolidándose en el gusto del público, además de realizar grandes colaboraciones con otros grupos.
El festival también contará con un segundo escenario para destacar a los artistas locales de música y danza que demuestran todo el talento que representa nuestra comunidad. Además, habrá food trucks, un pabellón Contigo Community Partner y mucho más.
También se emitirán cuatro especiales históricos de 30 minutos sobre KMEX-TV y el impacto que ha tenido en la comunidad durante los últimos 60 años. Los cuatro episodios estarán disponibles en www.vix.com.
