Univision’s Premiere of “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo” Reaches 2.4 Million Total Viewers 2+

Premiere Made Univision the No. 1 and No. 2 Broadcast Network in the 10 p.m. Hour Among Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, Respectively

MIAMI – MAY 19, 2022 — Tuesday night’s highly anticipated premiere of “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo,” a biopic series of music legend Vicente Fernández starring Mexican singer and actor Pablo Montero reached 2.4 million Total Viewers 2+, who tuned in to all or part of the one-hour telecast on Univision.

Airing from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo” delivered an average audience of 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 574,000 Adults 18-49 and 217,000 Adults 18-34  and positioned Univision as the No. 1 broadcast network among Adults 18-34 and No. 2 ahead of ABC and NBC among Adults 18-49  during the premiere.

Led by a star-studded cast including Angélica Aragón, Iván Arana, Iliana Fox, Pablo Montero, Jesús Moré, Emilio Osorio, Salvador Sánchez, and Vince Miranda, the premiere of “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo” ranked as the No. 1 program on all of television in the 10 p.m. hour among Adults 18-34 as well as No. 2 among Adults 18-49. “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo” also delivered double-digit audience growth to the network’s weeknight 10 p.m. hour from the comparable night in 2021 among Total Viewers 2+ (+14%), Adults 18-49 (+21%) and Adults 18-34 (+32%).

The premiere of “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo” delivered more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original primetime line-ups on ABC (“Holey Moley,” “The Chase” and “Who Do You Believe”), CBS (“FBI,” “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted”) and FOX (“The Resident” and “Name That Tune”) as well as first-run episodes of NBC’s “Young Rock,” “Mr. Mayor” and “New Amsterdam.”

Additionally, “El Ultimo Rey: El Hijo del Pueblo” positioned Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during the 10 p.m. hour with double-to-triple digit audience advantages over Telemundo’s “Pasion de Gavilanes II” among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
