TelevisaUnivision Incorporates Senior Communicators from Media Industry, Creating World-Class Communications Team

Team Structure was Redesigned to Reflect the Merged Company and its Position as the Global Leader in Spanish-Language Media and Content Creation

MIAMI – APRIL 8, 2022 – TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company, today announced the appointment of new executives to its Communications team, adding to TelevisaUnivision’s bench of experienced media professionals supporting the company’s mission of entertaining, informing and empowering Spanish speaking audiences with diverse and compelling content, across multiple media platforms.

The team’s redesign follows the company’s transformation and is set up to support and promote TelevisaUnivision’s combined media and content business, which has the largest library of Spanish-language content in the world and an extensive portfolio of IP and sports rights, constantly refreshed by its prolific engine of content – all this including entertainment, live sports and news, across linear, audio and digital platforms, including the recently launched streaming service, ViX, which will bring more than 50,000 hours of content in its first year alone.

TelevisaUnivision’s Communications team supports the top-rated broadcast networks Univision and UniMás in the U.S. and Las Estrellas and Canal 5 in Mexico, as well as 36 Spanish-language cable networks, including Galavisión and TUDN, 59 television stations across the U.S., four broadcast channels in Mexico, the Videocine studio, 57 owned or operated Uforia radio stations, live event series and digital audio footprint, as well as Univision.com, Univision NOW and several top-rated digital apps.

The following seasoned Communications professionals from the media industry joined this strong team, in the redesigned corporate structure:

  • Michelle Miguelez joins as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, leading corporate media relations, internal communications and issues management, in support of all corporate areas of the global business. Michelle joins TelevisaUnivision from Cox Media Group (CMG), where she served as the VP, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs & DE+I, and led communications strategies, change management practices and employee engagement programs guiding employees through CMG’s acquisition and establishment as an independent media company. Reporting to Michelle is the newly hired Maria Areco, who joins as Sr. Director of Corporate Communications, and comes from BCW.

 

  • Gabriel Andriollo joined as the Senior Vice President of Communications for Streaming, leading communications for ViX, the company’s recently launched streaming service, and all of its entertainment, news and sports content. He is also responsible for the operational planning and alignment across the Communications verticals. He joins from HBO Max, where he launched the service internationally and served as the Head of Publicity & Activations for Latin America. New hires reporting to Gabriel are Viviana Rubinstein, who recently joined TelevisaUnivision as Sr. Director of Digital Communications, coming from Netflix, and Estefania Diaz-Balart, joining as Sr. Director, Sports Communications, coming from Motorsports Games and Inter Miami CF.

 

  • Alyssa Bernstein joins as Vice President of Communications, supporting Sales and Distribution in the United States. She will lead media relations and communications strategies across commercial business divisions, including national and local advertising sales, content distribution and partnerships, working to amplify key initiatives with trade media. Alyssa joins from Paramount Global, where she managed communications for the company’s ad sales business, focusing on advertising and marketing initiatives such as the annual Upfront. Prior to Paramount, Alyssa spent several years working in News communications, beginning her career at ABC News and promoting its digital business, before joining CBS to manage media relations for its 24/7 streaming news network.

 

  • Rubén Acosta Montoya expands his role to become General Director of Communications for TelevisaUnivision in Mexico and Latin America, also incorporating the responsibility over Internal Communications for the merged company in the region, besides heading external communications regionally. Ruben will work with TelevisaUnivision’s global Communications team in the implementation of global strategies locally and will be responsible for the creation of Internal and External Communications plans for all linear content developed in Mexico, as well as its execution across Latin America. Ruben has headed corporate communications for media and sports productions at Grupo Televisa for the past seven years. He has also been vice-president of the Mexican broadcasting chamber (CIRT) and board member in the International Association of Broadcasters.

These executives report to Flavia Vigio, who was brought in from WarnerMedia in July 2021, as the company’s Executive Vice President of Communications and part of TelevisaUnivision’s Senior Leadership. Vigio’s direct reports also includes, in the U.S., Julissa Bonfante, Vice President of Content Publicity, who leads the publicity efforts for TelevisaUnivision’s linear content and top-ranked tentpole events and concerts in the U.S. And in the company’s close relationship with Grupo Televisa, Vigio partners with Javier Tejado-Dondé, Executive Vice President of the Office of Information to the Presidency and his team of experienced public and media relations executives.
