Univision’s Telecast of Liga MX “Súper Clásico” Delivers Highest-Rated Soccer Match in 2019 To-Date on Any Network, Regardless of Language, Finishes Saturday Night as Second Most-Watched Program on Broadcast Television Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of March 11, 2019 to March 17, 2019

  • On Saturday night, Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking, ahead of CBS, NBC, FOX and Telemundo for the entire night among Adults 18-34 with live coverage of “Súper Clásico.” Guadalajara (Chivas) vs. America drew in 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 823,000 Adults 18-49 and 347,000 Adults 18-34, making it the highest-rated soccer match across any network in 2019 thus far, regardless of language among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+. Not only did the sports event deliver double-digit audience growth to the network’s 9pm to 11pm time slot from the comparable Saturday last year among Total Viewers 2+ (+66%), Adults 18-49 (+67%) and Adults 18-34 (+49%) but it was also the second most-watched program on all of broadcast television on Saturday night with both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, outperforming The CW for the 25th consecutive week since the start of the current 2018/2019 season with 567,000 Adults 18-49 and 213,000 Adults 18-34. Last week also marked the 11th consecutive week that Univision placed fifth on broadcast television in primetime with the key 18 to 49 demographic.
  • Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+28% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+24% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+15% adv.), marking the 11th and 20th consecutive week that it occupied the top-ranked Spanish-language network position with Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers 2+, respectively.
  • Monday night’s two-hour finale of “Amar A Muerte” attracted 2.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 957,000 Adults 18-49 and 366,000 Adults 18-34, marking its highest-rated telecast during its full-run. The supernatural series positioned Univision as the No. 3 broadcast network, ahead of CBS, FOX, The CW and Telemundo for the entire night with the young 18 to 34 demographic. It was also the fourth most-watched program on all of broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original line-ups on FOX (“The Passage”) and The CW (“Arrow” and “Black Lightning”) as well as first-run episodes of CBS’ “The Neighborhood,” “Man With a Plan” and “Magnum P.I.” and NBC’s “The Enemy Within.”
  • Averaging more than half-a-million Adult 18-49 viewers, Univision’s “Jesus” (581,000) and “Mi Marido Tiene Mas Familia” (581,000) drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages of +25% and +21% during the respective weeknight 8pm and 9pm hours. Both the epic series and dramedy delivered more Adults 18-34 than first-run episodes of ABC’s “For The People” and “Speechless;” CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “Macgyver,” “Madam Secretary,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Man With a Plan” and “Ransom;” NBC’s “A.P. Bio,” “Blacklist,” “Blindspot,” “Good Girls” and “Will & Grace;” FOX’s “Proven Innocent” and “The Passage” as well as The CW’s “All American,” “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Legacies,” “Riverdale,” “Roswell New Mexico,” “Supergirl” and “Supernatural.”
  • In its first four airings, Season 2 of “Por Amar Sin Ley” delivered 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 478,000 Adults 18-49 and 168,000 Adults 18-34 and made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network in the weeknight 10pm hour, outperforming Telemundo’s special airing of “La Reina del Sur” among Adults 18-49 (+1% adv.) and Total Viewers 2+ (+11% adv.). It also averaged more 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 viewers than first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as CBS’ “Ransom;” FOX’s “Proven Innocent” and The CW’s “All American,” “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Legacies,” “Roswell New Mexico” and “Supergirl.”
  • On Sunday night, Univision’s special broadcast of the “2019 Premios TV y Novelas” attracted 1.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 359,000 Adults 18-49 and 123,000 Adults 18-34. The award show increased its audience by double-digits in the second hour compared to the first hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+22%), Adults 18-49 (+21%) and Adults 18-34 (+16%). With audience growth of +6% from the 2018 edition, “Premios TV y Novelas” outperformed CW’s original airing of “Charmed” with double-digit audience advantages of +43% with the key Adult 18-49 demographic.
