NEW YORK, NY – OCTOBER 16, 2017 – At 5pm EST Monday, entirely without warning, Verizon pulled Univision’s signal from both its FiOS and mobile platforms, effectively turning their backs on their own Hispanic consumers who rely on us for news and information.
Verizon chose to take this unprecedented action despite Univision’s offer of an extension of the current agreement. In light of recent natural disasters and current events impacting the Hispanic community, we are surprised and deeply concerned that Verizon would remove us from its systems – and without warning to its customers. We urge Verizon to come back to the negotiating table so we can reach a fair deal and put Univision back on Verizon systems as quickly as possible for our community.
Now more than ever, Verizon needs to prove its commitment to the Hispanic community and show that it understands the value of Spanish-language programming.

Declaración de Univision Communications Inc. sobre la decisión de Verizon de interrumpir nuestra señal
NUEVA YORK, NY – 16 DE OCTUBRE DE 2017 – A las 5 p. m., hora este, del lunes y totalmente sin previo aviso, Verizon interrumpió la señal de Univision en sus plataformas móviles y de FiOS, desde luego apartándose de sus propios consumidores hispanos que dependen de nosotros para recibir noticias e información.
Verizon optó por tomar esta medida sin precedentes a pesar de la oferta por Univision de una prórroga a su actual acuerdo. En vista de las recientes catástrofes naturales y noticias que afectan a la comunidad hispana, nos sorprende y preocupa muchísimo que Verizon nos retire de sus sistemas sin advertir a sus clientes. Exhortamos a Verizon a retomar las negociaciones para que podamos llegar a un acuerdo justo y hacer que Univision regrese a sus sistemas en Verizon cuanto antes por el bien de nuestra comunidad.
Ahora más que nunca, Verizon necesita probar su compromiso con la comunidad hispana y mostrar que entiende el valor de la programación en español.
