Rapid TV News: Univision king of Hispanic prime time

According to data from measurement firm Nielsen, Univision has led Telemundo in US Hispanics’ prime-time viewing for twelve consecutive weeks.

During the week ending 25 June, Univision not only outperformed its arch rival in Spanish-language TV, but it also beat CBS among adults 18-34 with the series José de Egipto, becoming the fourth most-watched US network.

Nielsen also found that in its premiere week, Univision’s José de Egipto attracted 1.6 million total viewers 2+, 668,000 Adults 18-49 and 269,000 Adults 18-34.
In addition, the series La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo helped Univision rank as the number 3 broadcast network among adults 18-34 during the Monday-Friday 9pm hour. The TV show averaged 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 698,000 Adults 18-49 and 292,000 Adults 18-34.

With La Piloto’s 1.5 million total viewers 2+, 700,000 Adults 18-49 and 301,000 Adults 18-34, Univision outperformed ABC (+20%) and CBS (+43%), among adults 18-34.
Since the beginning of the year, Univision has managed to lead the US Hispanics’ audience ahead of Telemundo. In fact, May sweeps revealed both Univision and UniMas outperformed the NBCUniversal channel.
