PJ 2017 youth awards show joins with Global Citizen for the first time to bring message of social action to viewers in the U.S.
MIAMI, FL – JULY, 6 2017 – The telecast of Premios Juventud (PJ 2017, Youth Awards) tonight on the Univision Network will feature a special unprecedented performance by Shakira with Coldplay from the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg, Germany, it was announced today.
PJ 2017, the 14th edition of the summer music celebration, which airs live from here, will be linked in solidarity with Global Citizen’s call for economic justice. Shakira and Coldplay will perform together for the first time ever before an audience of 12,000 at the Global Citizen Festival who share the goal of ending extreme poverty by 2030.
PJ 2017 this year expanded its focus to social causes that directly affect Hispanic communities by adding the “Agentes de Cambio” (Agents of Change) category to the awards, inspired by the artists, performers and presenters who have become powerful voices for a variety of causes. Six Hispanic achievers under the age of 30 from throughout the country will be recognized on the PJ 2017 stage for their grass-roots advocacy on behalf of the environment, education and social inclusion. In addition, the musical artists, hosts, performers and nominees were given a platform on the official event website, www.premiosjuventud.com, to share the social causes they champion with the hashtag #IStandUpFor.

PJ 2017 airs on the Univision Network tonight, starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. CT) with celebrity red carpet arrivals. The full three hours will be simulcast on Televisa’s Channel 5 in Mexico for the first time in PJ history.

MIAMI, FL –6 DE JULIO DE 2017– La trasmisión de Premios Juventud (PJ 2017) esta noche por la Cadena Univision incluirá una presentación especial sin precedente de Shakira con Coldplay desde el Festival Global Citizen en Hamburgo, Alemania, se anunció hoy.
PJ 2017, la 14a edición de la celebración veraniega de la música que se trasmitirá en vivo desde aquí, se solidarizará con el llamado a la justicia económica por Global Citizen. Shakira y Coldplay se presentarán juntos por primera vez en el Festival Global Citizen ante un público de 12,000 personas que comparten el objetivo de acabar con la pobreza extrema para el año 2030.
Este año, PJ 2017 amplió su enfoque para incluir causas sociales que tienen un impacto directo en las comunidades hispanas, al agregar la acategoría de premios “Agentes de Cambio”, inspirada en artistas y presentadores que se han vuelto enérgicos voceros de diversas causas. Seis hispanos menores de 30 años con logros considerables en todo el país recibirán un reconocimiento especial en el escenario de PJ 2017 por sus esfuerzos de base a favor del medio ambiente, la educación y la inclusión social. Además, se les dio a los músicos, conductores, artistas y nominados una plataforma en el sitio web oficial del evento, www.premiosjuventud.com, para que envíen mensajes sobre las causas sociales que promueven con el hashtag #IStandUpFor.
