NEW YORK, JUNE 12, 2017 – Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the appointment of Lan Nguyen, formerly an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York, as Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel – Head of Litigation. Nguyen will be based in UCI’s corporate headquarters in New York and will report to Jonathan Schwartz, Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer of UCI.
As Associate General Counsel – Head of Litigation, Nguyen will lead UCI’s legal work on litigation and employment law matters across all business units of the Company.
Schwartz commented, “We are further strengthening our legal department with the addition of Lan, a seasoned prosecutor with extensive experience working on complex litigations, most recently on behalf of the U.S. government. Her background and skillset make her ideally suited to lead our litigation and employment law efforts and better enable our department to serve business and corporate units across the Company.”
In her most recent role as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Nguyen led investigations related to public corruption, financial fraud, money laundering, bribery, extortion and obstruction of justice. She personally spearheaded multiple criminal trials and appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Nguyen was a Vice President in Morgan Stanley’s U.S. Litigation Group, where she supervised outside counsel and was responsible for a wide range of civil and white-collar litigation. She began her career as a law clerk for Judge Sarah S. Vance in the U.S. District Court in New Orleans, and as a litigation associate at the law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell.
Nguyen received a juris doctor from Stanford Law School, a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English Literature from Emory University and a graduate degree from the University of St. Andrews.

(UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos, anunció hoy el nombramiento de Lan Nguyen, ex fiscal federal adjunta de la oficina del Fiscal de Estados Unidos en el Distrito Este de Nueva York, como vicepresidenta sénior, asesora legal adjunta y directora de litigios. Nguyen trabajará desde las oficinas corporativas de UCI en Nueva York y se reportará a Jonathan Schwartz, director ejecutivo de asuntos legales y corporativos de UCI.
Como asesora legal adjunta y directora de litigios, Nguyen encabezará la labor legal de UCI en litigios y asuntos de derecho laboral en todas las unidades comerciales de la Compañía.

En su cargo más reciente como fiscal federal adjunta en el Distrito Este de Nueva York, Nguyen dirigió investigaciones relacionadas con corrupción pública, fraude financiero, lavado de dinero, sobornos, extorsión y obstrucción judicial. Se encargó personalmente de varios juicios penales y apelaciones ante la Corte de Apelación de los Estados Unidos para el Segundo Distrito. Antes de incorporarse a la fiscalía federal, Nguyen fue vicepresidenta del grupo de litigio federal de Morgan Stanley, donde supervisó a los asesores legales externos y estuvo a cargo de una gran variedad de litigios contra delitos civiles y financieros. Inició su carrera como asistente legal de la jueza Sarah S. Vance en el Tribunal del Distrito Federal en Nueva Orleáns, y como litigante adjunta del bufete de abogados Sullivan & Cromwell.
