Univision Deportes Network has Best Start in History, Moving Ahead of NBC Sports Network Year-to-Date in Primetime Among Adults 18-49. UDN also Out-Delivered NBCSN and ESPN2 in Primetime for the Week Ending February 26, 2017.

NEW YORK – MARCH 9, 2017

Heading into its five-year anniversary, the Univision Deportes Network (UDN) continues to best its competitors taking the No. 4 spot, regardless of language, year-to-date (YTD) in primetime among Adults 18-49. This is the strongest start to a year in UDN history, and the fourth straight year of growth during the first two months of the calendar year.

For the period from January 1 through February 26, 2017, UDN has outperformed the following sports networks: NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), NFL Network, NBA TV, Golf Channel, ESPNU, Fox Deportes, ESPN Deportes, MLB Network, The Tennis Channel, beIN SPORTS en Español, FS2 and beIN SPORTS.

Since Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, launched UDN in April 2012, the network has progressively become one of the most successful sports channels in the U.S.  UDN is the fastest-growing network regardless of language, in both Total Day and primetime (+15 percent vs. prior YTD by both measures).

Driving this growth is Liga MX on UDN, which is averaging 398,000 Persons 2+ and 236,000 Adults 18-49 in the Mexican soccer league’s current Clausura 2017 season, improving +8 percent and +6 percent over year ago. In fact, Liga MX on UDN is outperforming NBA on NBA TV by +31 percent and +74 percent in the two demographics, respectively, and the NHL on NBCSN by +18 percent and +53 percent, respectively.

ADDITIONAL UDN HIGHLIGHTS
  • On January 15 in Liga MX play, the Toluca vs. America match averaged 624,000 Persons 2+ and 375,000 Adults 18-49.
  • On February 26, the CONCACAF U-20 Semi-Final match between Mexico and Honduras averaged 144,000 Persons 2+ and 76,000 Adults 18-49 on UDN. The Championship match between the United States and Honduras aired this past Sunday, March 5 (161,000 Persons 2+ and 110,000 Adults 18-49).
  • UDN finished No. 3 in primetime ahead of both NBCSN and ESPN2, among Adults 18-49 for the week ending February 26. This is the third week YTD during which UDN was the third-ranked sports network, regardless of language, and sixth week it ranked at least No 4.
  • UDN remains the No. 1 Spanish-language sports network on U.S. television.
