The World-Renowned Society for News Design Recognized Univision News for Two Animated Videos and an Interactive Infographic
Univision was One of Only Two Spanish-Language Media Organizations Honored in the International Competition and the Only One Based in the U.S.
MIAMI – MARCH 2, 2017 – Univision News has received three Awards of Excellence in the 2016 edition of the SND’s Best of Digital Design Competition. Univision was one of only two Spanish-language media organizations recognized in the international competition and the only one based in the United States. The Society for News Design (SND) is the world’s leading organization for news media professionals and visual communicators who create print, web, mobile publications and products.
Univision News received Awards of Excellence in the “Graphics: Motion Graphics” and “Graphics: Breaking News” categories for two animated videos and an interactive infographic, respectively. The first animated video tells the story of an exploited worker of a cruise ship restaurant and is part of a five-episode project that exposes some of the irregularities taking place in the cruise ship industry. In the second animated video, a “coyote” reveals inside information on how the immigrant smuggling trade works. The winning infographic highlights the striking similarities between Melania Trump’s speech at the 2016 Republican Convention and one delivered by Michelle Obama eight years earlier.
The Univision News’ video and infographics teams developed the three SND award-winning projects. In the past few years, Univision’s digital news platform has received some of the most prestigious national and international recognitions, among them the Edward R. Murrow Award, the Premio Rey de España (King of Spain Award), the Ortega y Gasset Award, the EPPY™ Award, and the Inter American Press Association’s Environmental Journalism Award. Additionally, Univision News’ digital platform has grown its traffic by more than 50% over the last 12 months. Univision News is the leading Spanish-language digital media organization in the U.S.
Launched in 2010, the SND’s Best of Digital Design Competition recognizes digital journalistic work from around the world, published during the previous year. For the 2016 edition, an international panel of 14 judges gathered for two days at Northwestern University’s Medill campus in Washington, D.C. to review nearly 1,000 entries. Univision News and La Nación (Argentina) were the only two Spanish-language media organizations to win awards this year.

UNIVISION NOTICIAS GANA TRES PREMIOS A LA EXCELENCIA EN LA EDICIÓN 2016 DE LA COMPETENCIA “LO MEJOR DEL DISEÑO DIGITAL” DE SND
La mundialmente reconocida organización Society for News Design (Sociedad para el Diseño en Noticias) premió a Univision Noticias por dos videos animados y una infografía interactiva

MIAMI – 2 DE MARZO DE 2017 – Univision Noticias ha sido honrada con tres premios a la Excelencia en la edición 2016 del concurso Best of Digital Design Competition (Lo Mejor del Diseño Digital). Univision fue una de solo dos compañías de medios en español galardonadas en esta competición internacional y la única con base en Estados Unidos. Society for News Design (Sociedad para el Diseño en Noticias, o SND por sus siglas en inglés), es la principal organización mundial para profesionales de los medios de noticias y comunicadores visuales que crean publicaciones y productos impresos, en internet o en plataforma móvil.
Univision Noticias recibió los Premios a la Excelencia en las categorías de “Gráficos: Gráficos con Movimiento” y “Gráficos: Noticias de Última Hora” por dos videos animados y una infografía interactiva, respectivamente. El primer video animado relata la historia de explotación de una empleada de un restaurante en un barco crucero y es parte de un proyecto de cinco capítulos que denuncia algunas de las irregularidades que existen en la industria de los cruceros. En el segundo video animado, un “coyote” revela cómo funciona el negocio del contrabando de inmigrantes. La infografía ganadora resalta las notables similitudes entre el discurso de Melania Trump en la Convención Republicana de 2016 y otro presentado por Michelle Obama ocho años antes.
Los tres proyectos galardonados por SND fueron desarrollados por los equipos de video e infografías de Univision Noticias. En los últimos años, la plataforma digital de Univision Noticias ha recibido algunos de los más prestigiosos reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales, entre ellos el Premio Edward R. Murrow, el Premio Rey de España, el Premio Ortega y Gasset, el Premio EPPY™ y el Premio por Destacado Periodismo acerca del Medio Ambiente de la Sociedad de Prensa Interamericana. Además, la plataforma digital de Univision Noticias ha aumentado su tráfico en más de un 50% durante los últimos 12 meses. Univision Noticias es el medio digital en español líder en los Estados Unidos.
Creada en 2010, la competencia Best of Digital Design de SND rinde homenaje a trabajos periodísticos digitales de todo el mundo, publicados durante el año anterior. Para la edición de 2016, un jurado internacional de 14 expertos se reunió por dos días en el campus Medill de la Universidad Northwestern en Washington, D.C. para evaluar cerca de 1,000 trabajos. Univision Noticias y La Nación (Argentina) fueron los dos únicos medios en español que ganaron premios este año.
