Univision Local Stations Ranked No. 1 in the Time Period Among Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles and New York

The Program Ranked No. 1 Most Social Program on Television Yesterday


NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 18, 2016 – The biggest stars in Latin music gathered last night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the 17th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards, while 9.0 million Total Viewers 2+ tuned in to all or part of the three-hour live broadcast on the Univision Network. On a competitive night with original programming, last night’s telecast delivered an average audience of 3.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.6 million Adults 18-49 and 718,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision as the No. 3 broadcast network, ahead of CBS, FOX, and CW for the entire night with the young 18-34 viewers.

The 2016 Latin GRAMMY® Awards on Univision attracted more Hispanic viewers among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers 2+ than the combined audience of the latest editions of the “Billboard Music Awards” and “Country Music Awards.”

  • Was the fifth most-watched program on broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original line-ups on FOX (“Rosewood” and “Pitch”) and CW (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and “Supernatural”) as well as the first-run episodes of ABC’s “Notorious” and “How To Get Away With Murder” and CBS’ “The Great Indoors,” “Mom,” “Life In Pieces” and “Pure Genius.”
  • Delivered more Adult 18-49 viewers than the entire original line-ups on FOX (“Rosewood” and “Pitch”) and CW (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and “Supernatural”) as well as the first-run episodes of ABC’s “Notorious” and CBS’ “Pure Genius.”

Univision delivered the ultimate multichannel experience where fans had the unique opportunity to experience The Biggest Night in Latin Music® like never before. Social and digital activities surrounding the Latin GRAMMYs included a Facebook Live exclusive broadcast during the red carpet and a backstage live show that provided fans unprecedented access with exclusive interviews of the winners immediately after they accepted their awards. Helping to bring fans closer to the action was Univision’s William Valdes, who served as The Latin GRAMMYs® official social media host during the show. Fans also had the opportunity see the night’s top stars and newsmakers through the Latin GRAMMY® section one Univision.com, which featured the night’s hottest fashion looks, video interviews and photos, as well as an extensive archive of past shows’ fans. Additionally, followers had the chance to share their Snapchat stories through a one-of-a-kind Snapchat Live Story feature with exclusive filters. Throughout the night, live blogging and Tweeting highlighted the shows exciting moments and performances.

SOCIAL MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

The Latin GRAMMY® Awards generated over 890k interactions across Facebook and Twitter, making it the No. 1 most social program on TV yesterday, generating a higher unique audience on Facebook and Twitter than “How to Get Away with Murder,” and “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC).

DIGITAL HIGHLIGHTS

Content across Univision’s digital platforms for the Latin GRAMMY® Awards generated over 46 million page views, +10 percent more page views versus 2015. On the day of the broadcast, page views were up +64 percent versus day of the broadcast in 2015. Video views from content related to the award show generated 1.2 million views, +44 percent versus 2015. This year, 75 percent of visits to Univision’s Latin GRAMMY® Awards section came from social media platforms.

Co-hosted by actress Sebastián Rulli and Roselyn Sanchez, the 17th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards showcased Latin music’s brightest stars, and included a special performance by five-time Latin GRAMMY and two-time GRAMMY® winner Marc Anthony, who received the 2016 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year award. Presenting Anthony the award, and joining him on stage to perform their latest single, was award-winning singer Jennifer Lopez.

Award presenters included Mexican actor Diego Luna, Latin GRAMMY® winner Enrique Iglesias, Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Báez and pitcher Aroldis Chapman, and legendary music arranger and Latin GRAMMY® award winner Eduardo Magallanes.

Preceding the Awards telecast, Univision Network presented an exclusive “Noche De Estrellas” (“Night Of The Stars”) coverage of the celebrity arrivals direct from the Latin GRAMMY Awards red carpet starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central). “Noche De Estrellas” featured live interviews and commentary on the stars and their fashion, and provided viewers an intimate look at Latin music’s most glamorous event while connecting fans with their favorite celebrities via social media.
