On Saturday, Univision Outperformed CBS and NBC Among Adults 18-49 with the Sábado Futbolero Double-Header

Week of September 5 to September 11, 2016

On Saturday, the Sábado Futbolero double-header helped Univision rank as the No. 3 broadcast network among Adults 18-49, outperforming CBS and NBC.

  • For the 10pm match between Chivas and Jaguares, Adults 18-49 viewership (706,000) was the highest for any non-Súper Clásico match of the season to-date, delivering +58% more viewers than the average for the season to-date on Univision (446,000).
  • Performance for the lead-in match between Monterrey and Tijuana was 595,000 viewers, the highest for any first leg of Sábado Futbolero to-date.

For the week of September 5th, Univision:

  • Saw week-to-week growth among Adults 18-49 (+6%) and young Adults 18-34 (+3%).
  • Out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five nights among young Adults 18-34.

On Tuesday, the World Cup Qualifier between México and Honduras aired at 9:55pm and averaged 1.8 million Adults 18-49.

  • Viewership was most for any World Cup Qualifier on any network since 2013 when México and USA played on Univision (2.1 million).
  • Performance was best for any soccer match in 2016, excluding tournaments.
  • The match, alongside the premiere of “El Color de la Pasion” (The Color of Passion), helped Univision rank as the No. 3 broadcast network for the evening among both Adults 18-49 and young Adults 18-34, outperforming CBS and FOX in each demographic.

Airing Mon 10pm, a special Juan Gabriel themed telecast of “El Gordo y La Flaca” averaged 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+. 822,000 Adults 18-49 and 351,000 young Adults 18-34.

Airing Mon-Fri 8pm, “Despertar Contigo” (Waking Up with You) averaged 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 653,000 Adults 18-49 and 320,000 young Adults 18-34.

Airing Mon-Fri 9pm, “Tres Veces Ana” (Three Times Ana) saw week-to-week growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+3% to 1.9 million), Adults 18-49 (+9% to 859,000) and young Adults 18-34 (+13% to 388,000).

Airing Tue 7:55pm, Wed-Fri 10pm, the premiere week of “El Color de la Pasion” (The Color of Passion) averaged 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 767,000 Adults 18-49 and 345,000 young Adults 18-34.

On Sunday:
Airing 7pm, “Sal y Pimienta” (Salt and Pepper) averaged 1.1 million Total Viewers 2+, 441,000 Adults 18-49 and 170,000 young Adults 18-34.
Next, the season premiere of “La Banda 2”:

  • Reached 2.9 million Total Viewers 2+ who tuned in to all or part of the two-hour broadcast.
  • Averaged 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 535,000 Adults 18-49 and 234,000 young Adults 18-34.
  • Increased its audience in the last hour compared to the first hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+20%), Adults 18-49 (+15%) and young Adults 18-34 (+9%).
  • Out-performed the season finale of CBS’ “BrainDead” among young Adults 18-34.
  • Finally, “Aquí y Ahora” (Here and Now) averaged 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 543,000 Adults 18-49 and 219,000 young Adults 18-34.
