AUSTIN, TX – AUGUST 25, 2016 – Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, announced the appointment of Ismael Martínez as News Director for Univision Austin. He will be based in Austin, reporting to Vice President and General Manager of Univision Austin Danny Lowry.
Martínez most recently served as News and Operations Supervisor for KWEX 41 Univision San Antonio, organizing day-to-day workflow and special projects for the News team and coordinating coverage of major events.
“We’re pleased to welcome Ismael back to the Univision Austin family,” said Lowry. “He has a proven track record as a hard-working and insightful news professional, and I know that he will help us deliver on our goal of providing the best news coverage of the issues that matter most to our community.”
Prior to his work for Univision San Antonio, Martínez served under numerous capacities at Univision Austin’s KAKW 62 from 2003 to 2014. During this time, he worked as news director, executive producer, and assignments director & producer.
Martínez earned a Bachelor of Journalism & Broadcast News, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television and Film at the University of Texas at Austin.

ISMAEL MARTÍNEZ ES NOMBRADO DIRECTOR DE NOTICIAS DE UNIVISION AUSTIN
AUSTIN, TX – 25 DE AGOSTO DE 2016 – Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en los Estados Unidos, anunció el nombramiento de Ismael Martínez como director de noticias de Univision Austin. Trabajará en Austin, reportándose a Danny Lowry, vicepresidente y gerente general de Univision Austin.
Martínez se desempeñó recientemente como supervisor de noticias y operaciones de KWEX 41 Univision San Antonio, encargado de organizar a diario el flujo de trabajo y proyectos especiales de noticias, además de coordinar la cobertura de acontecimientos importantes.

Antes de unirse a Univision San Antonio, Martínez ocupó diversos cargos en KAKW 62 Univision Austin desde el 2003 al 2014. Durante esos años, trabajó como director de noticias, productor ejecutivo y director y productor de asignaturas.
Martínez obtuvo una licenciatura de periodismo y difusión de noticias, además de una licenciatura de ciencias en radio, televisión y cine, de la Universidad de Texas en Austin.
