In a multigenerational musical extravaganza broadcast LIVE on Univision Network, more than three dozen performers came together to recognize today’s superstars in music, film, TV, and sports
CNCO received five accolades during Thursday’s LIVE broadcast from the Bank United Center at the University of Miami
MIAMI, FL – JULY 14, 2016 – In an evening of stellar performances by trendsetters that made many feel a few decades younger and celebrated bygone times with classic tunes and moves, Univision Network’s 2016 “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) featured today’s memory makers and top acts in pop culture.
Throughout the show, an all-star lineup celebrated the good old days and honored today’s hottest music, TV, film and sports stars, as chosen by fan votes. The show’s #TBT theme gave performers and fans a chance to look back in time. And they did, as the night kicked off with an updated version of the 90s dance classic, “Más Macarena,” performed by Gente de Zona and featuring Los Del Río. Fans who submitted videos of themselves, extending their arms and wiggling their hips to the original version of the party hit, got a few seconds of fame on giant screens on stage.
Of all the stars, CNCO shone brightest, receiving five accolades during Thursday’s LIVE broadcast from the Bank United Center at the University of Miami. The young heartthrobs triumphed in the categories of “My Pop/Rock Artist,” “Producers’ Choice Award,” “My Favorite Twitter Celebrity,” “Catchiest Tune” and “#PJLook.” Also, Puerto Rican salsa legend Marc Anthony won in the “My Tropical Artist” category and was featured on Gente de Zona’s winning performance of “La Gozadera,” which was named “The Perfect Combination.”
Reik took the stage with a remake of “La Bamba,” a Mexican folk tune turned 50s rock classic, followed by PJ veteran and multiple past winner Prince Royce’s throwback of “Stand by Me” and the debut of his new theme “La Carretera”. Anahí also joined the stage with the worldwide release of “Amnesia”, followed by Zion & Lennox with their current chart topper “Embriágame.”
Marc Anthony made a surprise appearance, joining YouTube sensation and fellow winner Luis Figueroa for a performance of his hit “Flor Pálida,” sending the audience into ecstasy and highlighting one veteran star’s respect for online talent.
The parade of Latin music superstars went on and on, with Pitbull, who was joined by IAmChino and Yandel, Jesse & Joy, Chino & Nacho, urban icon Daddy Yankee and PJ co-host Becky G.
Crowd favorite Maluma, interpreted his hit “El Perdedor” in a remix version and joined “Va Por Ti’s” Leslie Grace in her debut of “Aire”. Also, multiple PJ winner Enrique Iglesias had the audience singing along with his “Tonight (I’m Loving You)” before Wisin joined in for “Duele el Corazón.”
Laura Pausini and Mario Domm, on stage together for the first time, went into throwback mode with a heartfelt medley of all-time hits. In another surprise moment, Mexican pop diva Gloria Trevi joined Chiquis for a playful performance of “Pelo Suelto.”
The night’s performances were rounded out by “My Regional Mexican Artist” winner Luis Coronel joined by Farruko. Mexican 80s boy band Magneto was followed by the night’s big winner, CNCO, in their PJ debut. The grand finale, which had everyone on their feet, was a medley of timeless dance hits “El Tiburón”, “La Morena, and “La Quiero a Morir” performed by Proyecto Uno, Magic Juan, Ilegales and Huey Dunbar.
Hosted by William Levy, Alejandra Espinoza, Luis Coronel, Becky G, Erick Elias, Emeraude Toubia, and William Valdés, the 13th annual edition of “Premios Juventud” featured presenters who are entertainment superstars themselves: Maite Perroni, Sofía Carson, Galilea Montijo, Clarissa Molina and Victoria Justice.
Awards were handed out in 25 categories, including “Favorite Hit Maker,” “Heart-Wrenching Song” and “Red Hot Artist.” This year, the “Producers’ Choice Award” was added to the music category. Also, reflecting Univision’s and PJ’s commitment to maintaining an active multiplatform presence, four new social media awards were added for 2016: “My Favorite Twitter Celebrity,” “Six Seconds of Fame,” “From Cover to Cover” and “My Favorite Fan Army,” giving fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite social media celebrities and artist fan club.
PJ 2016 maintained an active, multiplatform social media presence from the beginning of the nominations process, with lively discussions on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook and other platforms. Comprehensive live coverage of the event on social media, which featured backstage and arrival streaming and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the nominees, was hosted by William Valdés.
All winners announced were selected by the fans on PremiosJuventud.com during the period of May 12, 2016 to June 2, 2016. Votes were tabulated by the accounting firm of Michael K. Fish P.A.

UNIVISION REÚNE A LAS ESTRELLAS EN UNA NOCHE INOLVIDABLE PARA RECORDAR EL PASADO Y CELEBRAR EL PRESENTE EN LA EDICIÓN #TBT DE LOS “PREMIOS JUVENTUD” DE 2016
En un espectáculo musical multigeneracional trasmitido EN VIVO por la Cadena Univision, se presentaron más de tres decenas de artistas para rendir homenaje juntos a las superestrellas de hoy en la música, cine, televisión y deportes
CNCO recibió cinco premios durante la trasmisión EN VIVO el jueves desde el Bank United Center de la Universidad de Miami
MIAMI, FL –14 DE JULIO DE 2016 – En una noche de actuaciones estelares por artistas que marcan la pauta, quienes hicieron que muchos se sintieran varias décadas más jóvenes y celebraran los tiempos del recuerdo con melodías y bailes clásicos, los “Premios Juventud” 2016 de la Cadena Univision presentó a populares artistas y estrellas de la cultura pop que hoy hacen historia.
Durante todo el programa, un elenco estelar celebró la música del ayer y otorgó reconocimiento a las estrellas más populares de la música, la televisión, el cine y los deportes de la actualidad. El tema del programa, “jueves del recuerdo” o #TBT, les dio a los artistas y fans la oportunidad de hacer una retrospectiva. Y eso hicieron desde que se inició la noche con “Más Macarena”, una versión actualizada del clásico bailable de la década de 1990, interpretada por Gente de Zona junto con Los Del Río. Los fans enviaron videos de sí mismos extendiendo los brazos y sacudiendo las caderas al ritmo de la versión original del éxito de las fiestas, y tuvieron unos cuantos segundos de fama en pantallas gigantes en el scenario.
Entre todas las estrellas, CNCO fue la más brillante, pues recibió cinco premios durante la trasmisión EN VIVO el jueves desde el Bank United Center de la Universidad de Miami. Los jóvenes galanes triunfaron en las categorías “Mi Artista Pop/Rock”, “Producers’ Choice Award”, “Mi Tuitero Favorito,” “La Más Pegajosa” y “#PJLook.” El legendario cantante puertorriqueño de salsa Marc Anthony ganó la categoría “Mi Artista Tropical” y participó en la exitosa presentación por Gente de Zona de “La Gozadera”, que fue escogida como “La Combinación Perfecta”.
Reik llevó al escenario una nueva versión de “La Bamba”, una melodía folclórica mexicana que se convirtió en un clásico del rock en la década de 1950, seguida por Prince Royce, un veterano de PJ y múltiple ganador en el pasado, quien entonó “Stand by Me”, una canción del recuerdo, y estrenó su nuevo tema “La Carretera”. Anahí también se les unió en el escenario con la presentación mundial de “Amnesia”, seguida por “Embriágame”, el popularísimo tema de Zion & Lennox.
Como sorpresa, Marc Anthony se sumó a Luis Figueroa, la sensación de YouTube y otro de los ganadores, para entonar su canción “La Flor Pálida”, que dejó a la audiencia embelesada e hizo evidente el respeto del veterano artista por el talento en internet.
El desfile de superestrellas de la música latina continuó con Pitbull (que cantó con I Am Chino y Yandel), Jesse & Joy, Chino & Nacho, el ídolo de la música urbana Daddy Yankee y la copresentadora de PJ Becky G.
Uno de los favoritos de la audiencia, Maluma, interpretó su popular tema “El Perdedor” en una nueva versión a la que se unió Leslie Grace de “Va Por ti”, quien entonó “Aire” por primera vez. Asimismo, Enrique Iglesias, quien ha sido ganador en PJ múltiples veces, hizo que la audiencia lo acompañara cantando “Tonight (I’m Loving You)” antes de que Wisin se sumara a él para cantar “Duele el Corazón”.
Laura Pausini y Mario Domm compartieron el escenario por primera vez y entraron en la onda del recuerdo con un popurrí apasionado de populares canciones. En otro momento sorpresa, Gloria Trevi, la diva mexicana de la música pop, se unió a Chiquis en una divertida interpretación de “Pelo Suelto”.
Cerraron la noche presentaciones de Luis Coronel, ganador al premio “Mi Artista Regional Mexicano”, acompañado por Farruko. La banda Magneto de muchachos mexicanos de la década de l980 dio pie al gran ganador de la noche, el grupo CNCO, en su debut en PJ. El gran acto final, que puso a todos de pie, fue un popurrí de éxitos eternos como “El Tiburón”, “La Morena” y “La Quiero a Morir”, interpretados por Proyecto Uno, Magic Juan, Ilegales y Huey Dunbar.
Los conductores de la 13ra edición anual de los “Premios Juventud” fueron William Levy, Alejandra Espinoza, Luis Coronel, Becky G, Erick Elías, Emeraude Toubia y William Valdés, entre otros presentadores que son también superestrellas del entretenimiento: Maite Perroni, Sofía Carson, Galilea Montijo, Clarissa Molina y Victoria Justice.
Se entregaron premios en 25 categorías, entre ellas “Favorite Hit Maker”, “Canción Corta-venas” y “Voz del Momento”. Este año, los productores otorgaron un premio en la categoría musical. Asimismo, para reflejar el compromiso de Univision y PJ de mantener una activa presencia en plataformas múltiples, en 2016 se entregaron cuatro nuevos premios en las redes sociales: “Mi Tuitero Favorito”, “6 Segundos de Fama”, “De Cover a Cover” y “Mi ‘Fan Army’ Favorito”, lo que les dio a los fans la oportunidad de votar por sus celebridades preferidas en redes sociales y clubes de fans.
PJ 2016 mantuvo una presencia activa en múltiples plataformas y en redes sociales desde el inicio del proceso de nominación, con animadas conversaciones en Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook y otras plataformas. William Valdés fue el presentador de la cobertura integral en vivo del evento en redes sociales, la que incluyó streaming detrás del escenario y la llegada, además de tomas detrás del escenario de los candidatos.
