Copa America Centenario Quarter-Finals Deliver Record Ratings for Univision Deportes

Tournament Reaches 43 million Total Viewers 2+ Through End of Quarterfinals


NEW YORK – JUNE 20, 2016 – Univision Deportes, the multimedia sports division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) that includes UDN, the No. 1 Spanish-language sports cable network, today announced ratings for its broadcast of the Copa America Centenario quarterfinal stage. The quarterfinals, which included four matches, averaged 3.9 million Total Viewers 2+ and 2.2 million Adults 18-49 per match, making it the most-viewed Copa América quarterfinal round in history, on any network regardless of language. Through 28 matches, Copa América Centenario tournament is averaging 2.9 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.6 million Adults 18-49 per match.

  • The México versus Chile quarterfinal match that aired on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. EST averaged 5.6 million Total Viewers 2+ and 3.2 million Adults 18-49.
  • The Argentina versus Venezuela quarterfinal match that aired on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. EST averaged 3.3 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.7 million Adults 18-49.
  • The Colombia versus Peru quarterfinal match that aired on Friday at 8:00 p.m. EST averaged 3.5 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.8 million Adults 128-49.
  • The USA versus Ecuador quarterfinal match that aired on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. EST averaged 3.5 million Total Viewers 2+ and 2.0 million Adults 18-49.

The Copa America Centenario tournament advances to the semifinals beginning Tuesday, June 20, 2016 with USA versus Argentina at 9:00pm EST on the Univision Network with a simulcast on UDN.

Through three days, Copa America Centenario’s quarterfinal matches that aired on Univision were the No. 2 most social program in terms of tweets across all English and Spanish-language broadcast and cable networks, outperforming everything except the 2016 NBA finals on ABC. 76,000 unique authors per episode sent 374,000 tweets about Copa America Centenario.

Through three days, Copa America Centenario’s quarter-finals matches that aired on UniMás were the No. 2 most social program in terms of unique author per episode across all English and Spanish-language broadcast and cable networks, outperforming everything except the 2016 NBA finals on ABC. 108,000 unique authors per episode sent 260,000 tweets about Copa America Centenario.
