On Friday, the Copa América Centenario Opening Match Delivered 3.6 Million Total Viewers 2+, Helping Univision Rank No. 1 Among Young Adults 18-34

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of May 30, 2016 to June 5, 2016

  • On Friday, the opening night of the 2016 Copa América Centenario, Univision ranked as the No. 1 and No. 2 broadcast network, respectively, among young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49.
    • Airing 9-11:34pm, the match between USA and Columbia delivered 3.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.9 million Adults 18-49 and 853,000 young Adults 18-34 in simulcast across Univision, UniMás and UDN.  The game was the most-watched Copa América opener in tournament history on any network. It was also the best performance for any USA match in Copa América Centenario history.
    • Preceding the match, “Fútbol Central” delivered 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 864,000 Adults 18-49 and 375,000 young Adults 18-34 in simulcast across Univision, UniMás and UDN.
  • Last week (M-SU), Univision ranked as the No. 2 broadcast network among young Adults 18-34, outperforming CBS, NBC and FOX.  Univision saw week-to-week growth among Total Viewers 2+ (+25%), Adults 18-49 (+32%) and young Adults 18-34 (+29%).  Also, among young Adults 18-34, Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six nights.
  • Airing M-TH 8pm, “Un Camino Hacia el Destino” (A Path to Destiny) averaged 1.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 718,000 Adults 18-49 and 328,000 young Adults 18-34.
  • Airing M-TH 9pm, “Tres Veces Ana” (Three Times Ana) averaged 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 865,000 Adults 18-49 and 406,000 young Adults 18-34.
  • Finally, at 10pm, “Yago” averaged 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 603,000 Adults 18-49 and 269,000 young Adults 18-34.
  • On Saturday, airing two Copa América Centenario matches (both simulcast on UDN), Univision ranked as the No. 1 broadcast network among both young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49.
    • Airing 7:08pm-9:39pm, Haiti vs. Peru averaged 2.0 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.0 million Adults 18-49 and 505,000 young Adults 18-34.
    • Airing 9:39pm-12:05am, Brasil vs. Ecuador averaged 2.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.4 million Adults 18-49 and 645,000 young Adults 18-34.
  • On Sunday, Univision ranked as the No. 2 broadcast network among both young Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, outperforming CBS, NBC and FOX in each demographic.
    • Airing 7:30-10:07pm (simulcast on UDN), the Copa América Centenario match between México and Uruguay delivered 4.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 2.6 million Adults 18-49 and 1.2 million young Adults 18-34.
      • The match was the most-watched soccer telecast on any network, regardless of language, since the Gold Cup Final on Univision last July.
      • Performance was best for any Copa América Group Stage match since 2007, when México played Ecuador on July 1st on Univision.
    • Preceding the match (and simulcast on UDN), “Fútbol Central” delivered 2.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.2 million Adults 18-49 and 512,000 young Adults 18-34.
    • Airing 10:07-11pm, “Sal y Pimienta” (Salt and Pepper) saw week-to-week growth (over the prior week’s 8pm telecast) among Total Viewers 2+ (+66% to 1.7 million), Adults 18-49 (+71% to 866,000) and young Adults 18-34 (+126% to 423,000).
