Karina Awad

EVP, Human Resources

Karina Awad is Executive Vice President of Human Resources for TelevisaUnivision, the world’s leading Spanish-language media company. In her role, Awad leads the company’s global human resources strategy, talent acquisition and development, organizational effectiveness, and culture initiatives across the company’s international operations.

A seasoned human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience, Awad has built and led people strategies for some of Latin America’s largest organizations. Prior to joining TelevisaUnivision, she served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Grupo Axo where she led enterprise-wide organizational transformation initiatives and advanced the company’s talent and culture strategy.

Before her tenure at Grupo Axo, Awad served as Corporate Human Resources Director at Coca-Cola FEMSA, overseeing people and culture strategies designed to optimize operations across Latin America. Earlier in her career, she spent a decade with Walmart, including five years as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Mexico and Central America where she built workforce strategy and organizational development for of the region’s largest employers.

Throughout her career, Awad has become recognized for her ability to align talent, leadership, and culture with business strategies to drive organizational growth and transformation across geographical lines. Born in Chile, Awad has lived and worked throughout Latin America and brings deep expertise in leading diverse, multicultural teams across the region.

Awad has a degree in Psychology and an MBA (Master of Business Administration), and has completed executive education programs in coaching, leadership, and organizational development. She is also an active member of the International Women’s Forum, a global organization dedicated to advancing women’s leadership opportunities and fostering connections among accomplished leaders across 33 nations on six continents.
