TRAVESURAS DE LA NIÑA MALA, MARÍA FÉLIX and MAREA ALTA reach the Portuguese market with two local partners, RTP and SIC
Miami – October 10, 2023 – TelevisaUnivision, the leading Spanish-language media and content company in the world, announced two new deals in Portugal for ViX Original series. The deals include the acquisition of TRAVESURAS DE LA NIÑA MALA and MARÍA FÉLIX by RTP, the public service broadcasting organization, and MAREA ALTA, acquired by SIC, a Portuguese television network and media company, which runs several television channels.
TRAVESURAS DE LA NIÑA MALA (Bad Girl) is a romantic series based on the acclaimed novel by Mario Vargas Llosa, which premiered exclusively on ViX with new weekly episodes in 2022. The series tells the epic love story between a nonconformist and adventurous young woman and Ricardo, a man trapped in a predictable routine whom she calls a “good boy.” Thanks to the “bad girl,” he slowly learns to get out of his comfort zone. These two characters’ lives will intertwine over forty years through reunions across Lima, Paris, Madrid, Tokyo, London, and more. The “bad girl” invites us to challenge our life on autopilot, transform ourselves, take more risks to feel alive and seek happiness through excitement. A premise that questions what life is without those exciting moments from the perspective of a character that lives life feeling immortal. The series’ cast include Macarena Achaga (“The Wrath of God,” “Father of the Bride,” “Luis Miguel, The Series,”) and Juan Pablo Di Pace (“The Mattachine Family,” “Fuller House,” “A.D. The Bible Continues,” “Dallas,” “Mamma Mia”) who stars in the original production filmed in Paris, London and Mexico City,
MAREA ALTA, (High Tide), is the first ViX Original young adult thriller, produced, written, and directed by a team of award-winning creators, including Ariel Award-winning Spanish screenwriter Antón Goenechea (“Luis Miguel, La Serie,” “Perdida”); Spanish Goya Award-winning director Roger Gual (“Las Chicas del Cable”); and renowned directors Gabriel Mariño (“Un Mundo Secreto”) and Michelle Garza (“Huesera”). The cast features Cassandra Ciangherotti (“Las Horas Contigo”), Raúl Méndez (“Paramédicos,” “Sense 8,” “Narcos”), Antonio López (“Narcos México,” “El Último Rey,” “El Señor de los Cielos”), Susana Zabaleta, Fermín Martínez and Gustavo Sánchez Parra. This young adult thriller tells the story of the disappearance of Mia, a young cyber activist dedicated to denouncing the injustices around her and will shake the uneventful city of Ensenada to its foundation. Overseeing the case is the enigmatic new detective who suspects that any of the people surrounding Mia might have had motives to get rid of her. Meanwhile, Pau, Mia’s best friend, will dive into the deepest sewers of the city along with Greg, David, Beto, and Cruz to find answers about her friend’s disappearance.
MARIA FÉLIX is the authorized biographical series about María Félix, that follows the journey of one of the icons of Mexican cinema, whose influence is still felt across generations of women. Twenty years after her death, MARIA FÉLIX is the first series to portray the legendary actress and was produced by a team comprised mostly of women: produced by Carmen Armendáriz, directed by Mafer Suárez and written by Larissa Andrade, Alejandro Gerber, Tania Tinajero and Gabriela Rodríguez. The story stars Mexican actresses Sandra Echeverría (“La Usurpadora,” “La Fuerza del Destino”), Ximena Romo (“Dime Cuándo Tú,” “Yago”), and Abril Vergara, who portrays “La Doña” at different stages of her life.

Los acuerdos se realizaron con RTP, compañía de televisión pública, quien adquirió TRAVESURAS DE LA NIÑA MALA y MARÍA FÉLIX y con SIC, una cadena de televisión y empresa de medios portuguesa que gestiona varios canales de televisión, que adquirió MAREA ALTA.
TRAVESURAS DE LA NIÑA MALA, es una serie romántica que se basa en la aclamada novela de Mario Vargas Llosa, ganador del Premio Nobel que se estrenó en exclusiva ViX en 2022, con episodios nuevos cada semana. La serie relata la épica historia de amor de una joven inconformista y aventurera, y Ricardo, que está atrapado en una rutina previsible y al que ella llama el “niño bueno”. Gracias a “la niña mala”, éste aprende a salir poco a poco de su elemento. La vida de los dos personajes se entrelaza en el trascurso de 40 años en encuentros en Lima, París, Madrid, Tokio y Londres, entre otras ciudades. La “niña mala” nos desafía a cuestionar la vida en piloto automático, transformarnos y asumir más riesgos para sentirnos vivos y buscar la felicidad en lo emocionante. Se plantea qué vale la vida sin esos momentos de emoción, desde la perspectiva de un personaje que vive como si fuera inmortal. La serie es protagonizada por Macarena Achaga (“La ira de Dios”, “El padre de la novia”, “Luis Miguel, la serie”) y Juan Pablo Di Pace (“The Mattachine Family”, “Fuller House”, “A.D. MAREA ALTA, es una producción original de ViX y su primer thriller juvenil, producida, escrita y dirigida por un grupo de galardonados creadores, entre ellos, el guionista español Antón Goenechea (“Luis Miguel, la serie”, “Perdida”), ganador de premio Ariel el director español Roger Gual (“Las chicas del cable”), ganador del premio Goya; y los reconocidos directores Gabriel Mariño (“Un mundo secreto”) y Michelle Garza (“Huesera”). El elenco cuenta con Cassandra Ciangherotti (“Las horas contigo”), Raúl Méndez (“Paramédicos”, “Sense 8”, “Narcos”), Antonio López (“Narcos México”, “El último rey”, “El señor de los cielos”), Susana Zabaleta, Fermín Martínez y Gustavo Sánchez Parra. La historia trata sobre la desaparición de Mía, una joven activista en internet que se dedica a denunciar las injusticias que ocurren a su alrededor, estremecerá a la tranquila ciudad de Ensenada. MARIA FÉLIX es la serie biográfica autorizada sobre la vida de María Félix, y comparte detalles acerca de uno de los íconos del cine mexicano que ha marcado a generaciones enteras y que abrió camino para muchas mujeres en el país.
