A behind-the-scenes look at the group of underdogs who went on to create the critically acclaimed Spanish version of the 1930 horror film DRACULA
September 20, 2022 –ViX+, TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language premium subscription streaming service, and 3Pas Studios, the entertainment company co-founded by global megastar Eugenio Derbez and his producing partner Ben Odell, announced THEY CAME AT NIGHT (working title) starring Derbez. THEY CAME AT NIGHT is part of the previously announced first look deal between 3Pas Studios and TelevisaUnivision.
Inspired by true events, THEY CAME AT NIGHT is a workplace comedy that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the group of underdogs who went on to create the critically acclaimed Spanish version of the 1930 horror classic, “Dracula.” While Bela Lugosi filmed Dracula during the day on the Universal lot, at the end of each day another cast and crew arrived to make the same exact movie… only in Spanish. Using the same sets, costumes, and a translated version of the script, the cast and crew of the Spanish “Dracula” filmed from dusk to dawn and, against all odds, the critical consensus is that the Spanish version turned out to be the better film.
Eugenio Derbez will star in the series created and written by Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher (“The Valet” and “Overboard”). Ben Odell, Eugenio Derbez, and Javier Williams will all serve as executive producers under the 3Pas Studios banner. Production services on THEY CAME AT NIGHT will be handled by 3pas Studios’ Mexican production services company, Visceral.
“I have not worked in scripted Spanish language TV comedy for well over ten years and was looking for something really special to come back. This story really jumped out at me because it tells the story of Latinos always having to accomplish more with less resources and harder conditions. It’s also a world we’ve never explored in Spanish language TV, Hollywood in the 30s but like every moment in US history, the Latinos were there and doing their part even if history forgot them. And of course, it’s ripe for so much humor…” said Derbez.

La serie presentará una mirada tras bastidores a los creadores de la versión en español de la aclamada película de terror de 1930 DRÁCULA
20 de septiembre de 2022 – ViX+, el servicio premium de streaming en español por suscripción de TelevisaUnivision y 3Pas Studios, la compañía de entretenimiento co-fundada por la megaestrella internacional Eugenio Derbez y su socio de producción Ben Odell, anunciaron que LLEGABAN DE NOCHE (título provisional) protagonizada por Derbez está en desarrollo. LLEGABAN DE NOCHE es parte de un acuerdo de acceso preferencial o first-look previamente anunciado entre 3Pas Studios y TelevisaUnivision.
Inspirada en la vida real, LLEGABAN DE NOCHE es una comedia de “lugar de trabajo” que nos da un vistazo tras bastidores a quienes crearon la versión en español de la clásica película de horror “Drácula” de 1930, que recibió elogios de la crítica. Mientras Bela Lugosi filmaba “Drácula” durante el día en los estudios Universal, al final del día otro elenco y equipo llegaba a hacer exactamente la misma película, pero en español. Usaban los mismos escenarios, vestuarios y una versión traducida del guion. Filmaban “Drácula” en español desde el atardecer al amanecer, superando muchos obstáculos, y el consenso de la crítica es que la versión en español es mejor.
Eugenio Derbez protagonizará la serie creada y escrita por Rob Greenberg y Bob Fisher (“The Valet” y “Overboard”). Ben Odell, Eugenio Derbez y Javier Williams serán los productores ejecutivos a nombre de 3Pas Studios. El trabajo de producción de LLEGABAN DE NOCHE estará a cargo de Visceral, la compañía mexicana de servicios de producción de 3Pas Studios.
