Colombian star Shakira will perform at Univision’s Upfront presentation May 16, Billboard has learned.
Shakira, who recently won the Billboard Latin Music Award for Hot Latin Songs artist of the year, female, will perform at the network’s unveiling of its upcoming programming at New York City’s Lyric Theater.
“Univision has been such an important partner throughout my career, and I’m looking forward to teaming up with them again for this new season, and to perform at Upfront,” said Shakira in a statement, hinting at the possibility of other partnerships with Univision.
The Upfront presentations for Spanish language networks in this country have long been punctuated by performances from major Latin acts.
Shakira, who is expected to release an album later this year, comes to Univision with several recent hits under her belt, including “La bicicleta” with Carlos Vives and “Chantaje” with Maluma.
